Essential Information

What is the best ski month in Austria?

January and February are typically the best months for fresh powder, while March still offers fantastic conditions with longer days. A large part of Austria’s ski resorts are also covered with top class snow-making equipment, meaning you can rely on the ski conditions in Austria throughout the season, regardless of the weather in the lower villages.

Is an Austria ski holiday good for beginners?

Yes, Austria is a fantastic place to learn to ski. With highly professional ski schools, including well-maintained facilities and teachers who generally speak excellent English, Austria’s perfect for those still mastering their “pizza or french fries”.

Once you’re ready to tackle the mountain, resorts in Austria typically have a large number of beginner-level runs, perfect for building your confidence as you learn your turns.

What is the food like on an Austrian ski holiday?

If there’s one thing an Austria ski trip guarantees, it’s heartwarming dishes to help you recharge before another ski session on the mountain. Cozy stews to start, like goulash or knodel, followed by the famous wiener schniztel, is some of our favourite food you’ll find on any ski holiday around the world!

For those with a sweet tooth, a traditional apple strudel is a must!

Does Austria have apres-ski?
Yes, if you’re ready to indulge after enjoying the slopes, there’s something for everyone at the apres in Austria. As well as free flowing drinks, Austrian bars will often have live music playing traditional Austrian apres hits.

If you’re looking for a more relaxing venue to debrief with new friends, ski villages in Austria have plenty of options to choose from, and you’re never too far from a quieter spot to catch up over a hot chocolate.
Is Austria cheap for skiing?

Austria is a more affordable ski holiday than the likes of France, Switzerland, or US resorts. Lift passes are typically lower priced than the French or Swiss Alps. While the prices or food, drink, and equipment are similar, Austria does tend to work out as a slightly more affordable ski destination for many skiiers.
