Discover Italy on Foot
Discovering Italy on foot is one of the most rewarding ways to experience its scenery, history and incredible food. With a variety of trips to choose from, whether it’s exploring the sparkling lakes of Northern Italy, enjoying wine tasting in the rolling hills of Tuscany, or walking the Amalfi Coast, our guided walking holidays in Italy offer something for every solo traveller.
Italy Walking Holidays
Essential Information
The whole country is host to beautiful scenery! The north is home to the idyllic lakes and rugged mountains of the dolomites, whereas Tuscany and central Italy is where you’ll find rolling hills and vineyards as far as the eye can see. If you yearn for the sound of the rolling waves to accompany your walk, then the south coast and Sardinia will be right for you.
Our favourite areas include:
Clothing:
Versatile layers are key, so you can make sure you’ll be comfortable throughout our walks. We typically recommend shirts or t-shirts, a lightweight jumper, and a waterproof jacket and trousers which can be packed into your rucksack.
Footwear:
Walking boots with good ankle support are essential, and preferable lightweight and with good grip. If you’re planning on buying a new pair of boots for your trip, we’d recommend breaking them in at home. Several pairs of walking socks are also a must.
Accessories:
A rucksack for our walks is essential, and should be big enough to fit in:
- A hat
- Gloves
- Umbrella
- Sunglasses
- Suncream
- Small first aid kit
- Water bottle
We’d also recommend bringing walking poles, even if you may not typically use them. As well as providing support for the knees, they can be especially useful if descending in poor conditions. Many walking poles can be folded down and stored in your rucksack when not in use.
If you’d like any further suggestions on how to come best prepared, please contact our team and they’ll be able to provide further advice ahead of your trip.
Our guided walking holidays are the perfect way to meet like-minded travellers, who you’ll make unforgettable memories with.
While self-guided trips to Italy are generally accessible and safe, you may find it more challenging to immerse yourself in the full Italy experience. As well as logistical planning (such as airport transfers included as standard!), our Solos walking holidays typically include scenic accommodation, the best of the local cuisine, as well as experiences to savour, such as wine tasting, museums, and spas. All you need to worry about is taking the perfect holiday snaps!
