Join Solos for a fascinating weekend exploring the cathedral city of Coventry. We begin our three-night escorted break with a warm welcome drink and dinner in Coventry, where we'll meet our fellow solo travellers. We discover the rich history of Coventry on a guided walking tour, stepping back in time and hearing the city's history come to life. We visit Stoneleigh Abbey, a historic house which has played host to Jane Austen, King Charles l and Queen Victoria and explore the beautiful grounds, designed by famous 18th-century landscape gardener Humphry Repton. Concluding our weekend with a final group breakfast, we depart filled with unforgettable memories.

What's this?What you'll be doing

Day One: Arrive Coventry
Arriving at our hotel in Coventry at your leisure, we'll enjoy a welcome drink before having dinner together at the hotel as a group.

Day Two: Coventry
After breakfast, we will meet our guide for a walking tour of Coventry which people call "The City of Three Spires" and it's known as the home of British car manufacturing. It's renowed for the damage that WW2 bombs wreaked upon it, and, some say, finished off by the city planners.
Famous characters associated with the city include: Lady Godiva and Peeping Tom, William Shakespear, Maryann Evans aka George Elliot, Chuck Berry, The Specials and Philip Larkin, as well as many royal personages!
Here are some examples of the places you'll see on your tour:
- Lady Godiva Statue
- Holy Trinity Church & the "Doom" painting
- Priory Row
- Walk of Fame
- Coventry Cathedral & Graveyard
- St Michael the Archangel sculpture and more....
The tour will end at the Coventry Motor Museum which tells the history of a city that changed the world through transport (entry not included) from where you will be free to explore further at your leisure or return to the hotel to unwind before joining the group for dinner.
- Breakfast and dinner included

Day Three: Stoneleigh Abbey
After a leisurely breakfast, we head to Stoneleigh Abbey.
Stoneleigh Abbey was founded by the Cistercians in 1154, but very little trace remains of the original Abbey buildings except for the 14th-century Gatehouse. One of the seats of the Leigh family, Stoneleigh Abbey has played house to several people of note, including King Charles l, Queen Victoria, and the novelist Jane Austen.
After the Dissolution of the Monasteries the estate was acquired by Sir Thomas Leigh, Lord Mayor of London in 1558, and a house was built on the site of the monastic buildings. It was home of the Leigh family from 1561 to 1990.
Between 1714 and 1726 a new palatial four-storey fifteen-bay west wing was built to designs by architect Francis Smith of Warwick and provides an impressive range of state apartments.
On our guided tour, we learn more about the tragic events in the Abbeys 900 year history and how it is been bought back to life for us to enjoy today with free time to explore the grounds and have tea/coffee (not included) in the Vaulted Hall Tea Room which was formerly the house staff dining and rest room.
This evening, we meet as a group for a farewell dinner at the hotel.
- Breakfast and dinner included

Day Four: Depart Coventry
After a final breakfast as a group, we depart Coventry at our leisure.
- Breakfast included

Gratuities

There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides and hotel staff (including restaurant, kitchen and reception staff) of approximately £20.
Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of bar staff and housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (the rounding up of the drinks bill and a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, restaurants expect a 10% gratuity (do check that service has not already been added to your bill). For taxis 10% of the metered fare.
