Join like-minded solo travellers in Portugal for an energising week of sport, sunshine and sociable fun in the beautiful Eastern Algarve. Staying at the four-star Prime Energize Hotel, just 400 metres from Monte Gordo Beach, this active escape blends daily Pickleball sessions with the freedom to relax, explore and recharge at your own pace. Each day offers something different — from lively group games on the Vila Real courts, home to Portugal’s National Pickleball Championships, to time at the beach club, rooftop pool or spa. You’ll enjoy five structured mornings of Pickleball with extra court time available for those keen to play more. And when you're off the court? Join an optional sightseeing trip to Tavira or Ayamonte, explore nearby nature reserves by bike, or take part in hotel-hosted yoga, Pilates or running sessions.

Located just 400 meters to the Monte Gordo Beach in the south east Algarve, the sport focussed four-star Prime Energize Hotel offers an active escape. For culture, the Castro Marim caste, the Milreu Roman ruins, Cacela Velha village with its world-class views and beautiful centre of Tavira, among many others are just a short ride away.

Spend your time away from pickleball, taking advantage of the hotel's many facilites, which include beach club, swimming pool and a spa and massage leisure centre. Use a bike to explore the local area (subject to availability) or chat to our tour guide about options for exploring further afield.

Pickleball will be played at the Vila Real de Santo António courts, an excellent facility previously used for the Portugues National Pickleball Championships. Our Solos Tour Leader will be on hand to arrange friendly and competitive games.

 
The pickleball schedule includes courts available on:
 
Day 2 - 9am to 1pm and 4pm to 6pm
Day 3 - 9am to 1pm
Day 4 - 9am to 1pm
Day 6 - 9am to 1pm
Day 7 - 9am to 1pm and 4pm to 6pm
 
Additional court time can be requested locally if desired.

Accommodation

Four-star Prime Energize Hotel

The four-star Prime Energize hotel is 400 meters from Monte Gordo beach, in the south east Algarve and  just 45 minutes from Faro is sports focused with excellent facilities from sports, spa to beach club.

Facilities include

This sports-focused hotel offers a selection of daily sports activities including yoga classes, pilates, running and walking all included. You will also find an indoor heated pool, rooftop outdoor pool and bar, beach club, gym and spa where treatments can be booked for an additional fee. Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the property and bikes are available for rent.

Room includes

The rooms are decorated in soft, neutral colours offering a soothing and calming setting for a good night's sleep. Private facilities include a tv, hair dryer, pillow menu, safe, free Wifi, kettle and tea and bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Essential Information

Transfer Time
The transfer time from Faro Airport to the hotel is approximately 45 minutes, depending on weather and traffic.
Passports and Visas

To enter Portugal or Madeira your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:  

  • less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’) 
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’) 
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old. 
 
A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday.

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.
 
From the 12th October 2025 the EU is introducing a new European Entry System (EES) that will be phased in and fully operational by the 10th April 2026. Non-EU nationals including British passport holders will now be required to complete biometric checks on arrival and exit to Schengen countries, which will include facial recognition and fingerprints. There is no cost for this, and no action needs to be taken prior to departure.

All clients are responsible for acquainting themselves with up to date health information of the countries being visited and where necessary take the required precautions. Gratuities

There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below.

 
The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides, porters and hotel staff of approximately €25.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burdern of who, when and how much to tip.
Important Information
Pickleball Paddles are not provided and you must provide your own equipment.
 
10 pickleballs will be provided.
 
Swimming caps are required for the swimming pool and can be purchased locally if you don't have your own.
