This morning we travel by private vehicle to Colonia del Sacramento, one of Uruguay’s most picturesque towns. Founded in 1680, its cobbled streets and colonial buildings reflect centuries of Portuguese and Spanish rule. We enjoy a guided walking tour of the historic quarter, including the famous Street of Sighs and the lighthouse. After free time to explore, shop or enjoy lunch independently, we transfer to the port and cross the River Plate by ferry to Buenos Aires, taking in the views en route. On arrival, we transfer to our hotel. The evening is free to relax or dine nearby.

Day Five: Buenos Aires sights & Tango by night
We begin the day with a comprehensive guided tour of Buenos Aires, often called the “Paris of South America”. We explore elegant Recoleta, leafy Palermo and historic Plaza de Mayo, home to the Casa Rosada. Our tour continues through San Telmo, known for its antiques and colonial atmosphere, and colourful La Boca with its vibrant Caminito street. Along the way, our guide shares insights into the city’s European influences and passionate national identity.
In the evening, we enjoy one of Argentina’s greatest traditions with dinner and a tango show. The performance traces the history of Buenos Aires’ most iconic music, from the 1920s to the modern edge of composer Astor Piazzolla, featuring a cast of twenty dancers and a talented music quintet. To the melody of piano, violins and bandoneón, a delicious three-course dinner with wine is served. We return to the hotel filled with the spirit of Buenos Aires.
- Breakfast & dinner included

- Comfortable Shoes: You’ll be walking on several trails, so it’s crucial to bring comfortable shoes. Closed-toe athletic or hiking shoes are recommended.
- Sunscreen: The area around Iguazu Falls is located in the north of Argentina (south of Brazil), and the sun can be intense during the summer. Carry your sunscreen with you to protect your skin.
- Hat: Don’t forget to pack a hat to protect your head from the sun.
- Insect Repellant: As a subtropical jungle area, Iguazu Falls has many mosquitoes and insects. Prevent mosquito bites with insect repellent.
- Clothing: Light clothing or a bathing suit is recommended as you will get wet. Depending on the weather and the season, it’s a good idea to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants to protect against sunburn and mosquito bites. It’s also a good idea to bring a raincoat or waterproof jacket.
- Towel and Waterproof Bag: The area around the falls is wet, so don’t forget to pack a towel and a change of clothes. Carry a waterproof bag to protect your camera, lens, passport, and other items from getting wet, especially if you’re taking any of the boat navigations available in the area. Realize that no matter what, you are going to get soaked. And it’s fantastic!
- Sunglasses: Sunglasses are important to protect your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays during summer.
- Passport
As a general guide, this is approximately equivalent to:
-
Guide: BRL 40.00 ≈ UYU 320 / ARS 8,000
-
Driver: BRL 20.00 ≈ UYU 160 / ARS 4,000
Please note that exchange rates fluctuate, so these amounts are indicative only.
Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
