Full Day: Curepipe, Grand Bassin, Plaine Champagne & Chamarel (with lunch) Enjoy a puff of fresh air and a panoramic view from the top of “Trou Aux Cerfs”, an extinct volcano about 700,000 years old. Brief stop on the town centre of Curepipe to visit a ship model factory and for some shopping. Before lunch, you will proceed to Grand Bassin, a sacred lake for pilgrims of the Hindu community. Only a stone throw from this mystical site are the Black River Gorges, Chamarel and its coloured earth. 92 GBP per Adult

Full Day: Picturesque Mahebourg (with lunch) At Pointe Jérôme, hop in a boat to visit the Aigrettes Island, a natural reserve for many endemic birds. Back on the mainland, towards Mahebourg, you will visit the Biscuiterie Rault for tea and biscuit tasting, followed by a visit of the famous Naval Mahebourg Museum. A local cuisine lunch will be served. After lunch, immerse yourself in the traditional local market of not just shopping but also to discover many monuments which have marked the history of the island. 105 GBP per Adult

Half Day: Cultural Port Louis & Shopping (without lunch) Port-Louis, the capital city and thriving commercial centre was founded by the French Governor François Mahé de Labourdonnais in 1735. The historical monuments such as: The Robert Edward Hart Garden, Marie Reine de la Paix, the Pagoda, La Citadelle, the City Centre, St James Cathedral, Port-Louis theatre and the supreme Court today offer a foretaste of its rich history and diversity. Arrival at the Place d’Armes and proceed to the buzzing central market, is a strong place of interest for the Mauritian community. At Le Miraj, Tapestries made of cashmere, artisanal products and traditional objects of art will delight you. Proceed to the Caudan Waterfront where one can find a wide selection of high quality products and jewelleries. 40 GBP per Adult

Please note: Optional excursions are not guaranteed and are based on minimum numbers. The prices quoted are guideline only and may involve other non-Solos holidaymakers.
Dress Code
In Mauritius, the dress code for tourists is generally casual and relaxed due to the warm climate. Light, comfortable clothing such as shorts, t-shirts, sundresses, and swimwear are suitable for beach activities and casual outings. However, it's respectful to cover up when entering religious sites or local villages out of consideration for local customs and traditions. If you plan to visit more formal establishments like upscale restaurants, smart casual attire may be more appropriate
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides, porters and hotel staff of approximately £50. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip.
Passport, Visa & Entry Requirements
Your passport must:
  • be valid for the duration of your stay
  • have one blank page
You can visit Mauritius without a visa for up to 60 days. When you arrive, a border official will stamp your passport to show the end-date for your permitted stay.  You must be able to show proof of onward or return travel. You must fill in the Mauritius All in One travel form online before you arrive. Print out a copy of your completed form with a QR code on it. You’ll need to show the form to officials when you arrive at the airport. If you do not fill in the form before you arrive, you’ll be asked to fill in an immigration disembarkation card at the airport.
Currency
The official currency of Mauritius is the Mauritian Rupee. You can use credit cards in most places, but you may still want some cash. Occasionally sterling and dollars may be used when paying in tourist areas, but the locals prefer rupees where possible.
