Day Two: Laxey - Ramsey - Peel - St John's

After breakfast, we board the minibus and travel north from Douglas to the village of Laxey, home to the iconic Great Laxey Wheel - the world's largest working waterwheel. We spend time exploring this impressive symbol of the island's mining heritage before continuing along the scenic coastal road via Maughold to Ramsey, the island's second-largest town.

In Ramsey, we enjoy a visit to the Fynoderee Distillery for a short tour and tasting, followed by free time to stroll the seafront or relax in one of the local cafés.

From Ramsey, the route continues north to the Point of Ayre, the island's northernmost tip, where sweeping views stretch across the sea to Scotland on a clear day. The afternoon takes us west across the island to the harbour town of Peel, with time to explore Peel Castle, a medieval fortress once ruled by Viking kings, or visit the engaging House of Manannan Museum, which brings Manx myths and maritime history to life.

On the return journey to Douglas, stop at St John's to see Tynwald Hill, the historic open-air parliament site that has been in continuous use for over 1,000 years.

Day Three: IOM Steam Railway - Cregneash - The Sound

This morning begins with a stroll into Douglas and a ride on the Isle of Man Steam Railway, a beautifully preserved Victorian line, travelling from Douglas to Castletown, the island's historic former capital. Here, we explore Castle Rushen, one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the British Isles, and enjoy some free time to wander around the market square.

From Castletown, we continue by minibus to the traditional crofting village of Cregneash, a living history site where thatched cottages and Manx farm animals give a glimpse into the island's rural past. The journey then continues to The Sound, with its sweeping views over the Calf of Man and the chance to spot seals basking on the rocks.

The afternoon brings a visit to the seaside town of Port Erin, with free time for lunch, a stroll along the promenade, or a visit to one of the local cafés. The day concludes with a scenic drive back to Douglas via Niarbyl, a dramatic coastal viewpoint steeped in folklore.

Health Requirements
A reasonable level of fitness is required for this holiday due to the walking, standing, steps, uneven ground and movement to and from heritage railway carriages.
Gratuities
Thre is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advise or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides porters and hotel staff of approximately £15. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip.
