Méribel Mottaret

Méribel Mottaret

If you're all about getting straight onto the slopes, Méribel-Mottaret is your kind of place. Sitting at 1,750m, it’s the highest resort in the Méribel Valley and right in the heart of the massive 3 Valleys ski area—so you’re perfectly placed to explore one of the world’s best ski networks.

This purpose-built resort is ideal for keen skiers who want easy, no-fuss access to the pistes, and it’s also a great option for a more peaceful stay than the buzzier Méribel Centre just down the road. You’ll find a handy mix of bars, restaurants, and shops right in the village, and if you're after more variety or a livelier après-ski scene, a free shuttle bus will have you in Méribel Centre in no time.

With great snow conditions throughout the season and no shortage of runs to explore, Méribel-Mottaret makes a brilliant base for your next ski adventure.

The 3 Valleys

The 3 Valleys

At 1,750m, Méribel-Mottaret sits in an unbeatable spot in the Méribel Valley, right at the centre of the 3 Valleys with a massive 600km of pistes to explore. Whether you're into cruisy blues, challenging reds, or just want to clock up serious mileage on the mountain, this place has it all.

Thanks to its high altitude and top-tier snow-making facilities, you can count on great snow conditions all season long. The modern lift system makes it super easy to hop over to Val Thorens, Les Menuires, or Courchevel in no time. One minute you're carving wide-open bowls in Val Thorens, the next you're gliding down those long, scenic reds into Courchevel.

Skiing for all abilities

Skiing for all abilities

For Beginners

A dedicated beginners’ zone in the village makes it easy to get started. Once you're ready, there are plenty of wide, tree-lined runs that offer a gentle and scenic progression.

For Intermediates

With fast, direct lift access across the 3 Valleys, Mottaret is a dream for intermediates looking to cover ground. Don’t miss the Combe du Vallon, a fantastic 5km red run that winds down from Mt Vallon to just above the village.

For Advanced Skiers

Chasing fresh snow? Head to the off-piste terrain below Mt Vallon after a snowfall. If moguls are more your thing, the Le Bosse black run above Méribel offers a serious challenge.

No matter your level, Mottaret gives you front-row access to the best of the 3 Valleys, with a more laid-back vibe to come back to after a big day on the slopes.

We strongly recommend you inspect your ski hire equipment at the start of your holiday and agree the state of their condition with the ski hire suppliers, as clients are responsible for the care of their hired equipment and should this equipment be damaged the ski hire suppliers are within their rights to ask for a compensation payment.

Dress Code
On a skiing holiday, dress is generally very informal, the emphasis being on comfort and warmth. We recommend that you pack a pair of skiing trousers and warm ski jacket or a waterproof shell and separate fleece lining or an all-in-one ski suit. Thermal or silk underwear is recommended. Cotton/cotton mix roll necks, T-shirts or sweat shirts; several thin layers are better than one thick layer.

Ski socks, ski gloves or mitts and a hat or headband are suggested. Where temperatures are expected to be well below zero, take a facemask or balaclava. Moon boots or waterproof walking shoes are a must. Suntan cream (high protective factor), lip salve, sunglasses and/or goggles are all very useful items to pack. Casual clothes are ideal for the evenings; it is unusual on skiing holidays to dress formally in the evenings.
Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover transfer drivers, and hotel staff of CHF30.00 per person or the equivalent in local currency. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated).

As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate percentage add on. If you choose to have ski lessons, you may also like to thank your ski instructor at the end of the week with a token of appreciation.
Passports and visas

Passport and visas To enter France your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:

  • less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)

Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.
A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit ; France Foreign Advice

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.

Health Requirements
Compulsory vaccinations: None.

All clients are responsible for acquainting themselves with up to date health information of the countries being visited and where necessary take the required precautions.
