Day Two: Exploring Delhi

After breakfast, we’ll embark on a fascinating exploration of both Old and New Delhi. Our journey begins in Old Delhi with a drive past the magnificent Red Fort, followed by an atmospheric cycle rickshaw ride through the vibrant, narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk. We’ll then drive past the 14th-century ruins of Kotla Firoze Shah and visit Raj Ghat, the serene memorial where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated in 1948. A fixed-menu Indian lunch awaits us at the characterful Chor Bizarre restaurant in Old Delhi. In the afternoon, we turn to New Delhi, taking a panoramic drive past the Presidential Palace (Rashtrapati Bhavan), the ceremonial boulevard Rajpath, the striking Memorial Arch, and the India Gate.
We also visit the Qutub Minar, a soaring 72-metre-high minaret and one of Delhi’s most iconic landmarks. After our guided tour, we’ll return to the hotel to relax and reflect on the day’s discoveries. Day Three: Delhi - Agra (240km)

After breakfast, we check-out of our hotel and leave for the city of Agra – home to the famous Taj Mahal (approx. 4.5 hour drive). When we arrive in the afternoon, we visit the historical Agra Fort, which was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. At sunset, we visit the iconic Taj Mahal - also known as the greatest love story ever told!

Often described as one of the wonders of the world, the stunning 17th Century white marble mausoleum was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth. It took 22 years to build the monument.

Day Four: Agra – Jaipur (240km)

Day Four: Agra – Jaipur (240km)

After breakfast, we depart for Jaipur, making a stop en route to explore Fatehpur Sikri, the former Mughal capital built by Emperor Akbar as a showpiece city of grandeur and ambition. Intended to be the most beautiful city ever constructed, it certainly dazzled with its architecture—but practicality fell short, as the lack of reliable water access led to its eventual abandonment. Just a few years after completion, the capital was shifted to Lahore in present-day Pakistan. Following our visit, we’ll continue the journey to Jaipur—approximately a four-hour drive—arriving in the afternoon.

  • Breakfast & dinner included

Day Five: Diwali Festival in Jaipur

Day Five: Diwali Festival in Jaipur

Today, India comes alive with the vibrant celebration of Diwali, the country’s most significant and cherished festival. Named after the “row” (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) traditionally lit outside homes to symbolise the inner light that dispels spiritual darkness, Diwali holds a place of importance for Hindus much like Christmas does for Christians. We’ll have the day free to explore Jaipur at our own pace, before joining this evening’s warm and festive gathering, where we’ll be welcomed with a traditional Indian drink.

Our host will guide us through the cultural and historical significance of the evening’s traditions, beginning with the ceremonial lamp lighting. We’ll enjoy a saree-draping lesson, cocktails, and homemade Diwali canapés, followed by a choice of engaging activities including henna art, mithai (Indian dessert) making, and eco-friendly firecracker lighting under supervision. The celebration concludes with a dinner of homemade Diwali specialties, served alongside storytelling that brings the festival’s meaning to life.

Day Six: Jaipur

Day Six: Jaipur

After breakfast, we set off on a half-day excursion to Amber Fort, pausing along the way at the iconic Hawa Mahal—also known as the Palace of Winds—for a fantastic photo opportunity. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, this intricate façade allowed royal women to observe city life and ceremonial processions without being seen. We then continue to Amber Fort, a honey-hued fortress-palace nestled in the Aravalli Hills, often described as the sleeping beauty of Rajasthan. Constructed from sandstone and marble, the fort features a series of four courtyards, palaces, halls, and gardens.

In the afternoon, we begin our city tour of Jaipur with a visit to Jai Singh’s Observatory, an impressive 17th-century creation by Jaipur’s founder, who was not only a prince but also a soldier, astronomer, and visionary builder. Our next stop is the magnificent Jaipur City Palace, part of which has been converted into a museum housing exquisite Rajput and Mughal paintings, rare manuscripts, an armoury, richly embroidered royal garments, and centuries-old carpets. We conclude the day with a stroll through a bustling local market, soaking in the sights and sounds of Jaipur’s vibrant street life.

The battlements are 6m to 36m high, and as the building materials were chiselled from the rock on which the fort stands, the structure merges with its base. Still run by the Jodhpur royal family, Mehrangarh is packed with history and legends.

Day Nine: Exploring Udaipur

After breakfast, we set off on a half-day city tour of Udaipur, often referred to as the Venice of the East and widely regarded as Rajasthan’s most romantic city. Our first stop is the City Palace, once the grand residence of Mewar’s rulers and now an impressive museum showcasing the city’s regal heritage. We then visit Sahelion-ki-Bari, the Garden of the Maids of Honour—a tranquil retreat where royal princesses once came to relax, surrounded by lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and gently splashing fountains. Later, we enjoy a scenic drive around Fateh Sagar Lake, an artificial lake constructed in the 1680s and named after Maharana Fateh Singh of Udaipur and Mewar, located to the northwest of Lake Pichola.

Afterwards, we’ll visit the Jagdish Temple, a stunning 17th-century structure renowned for its intricate stone carvings and a remarkable example of traditional Indian architecture. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a serene boat ride on the shimmering waters of Lake Pichola, taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, the cityscape, and the golden hues of sunset reflected on the lake’s surface. Along the way, we’ll pass historical landmarks such as the grand City Palace Complex and the charming lakeside Ghats, all contributing to the magical atmosphere of Udaipur at dusk.

Passport validity Your passport must be machine readable, with 2 blank pages for your visa and valid for a minimum of 180 days at the time of your visa application. However, the guidelines regarding passport validity on arrival in India are unclear. To avoid possible problems at immigration, make sure your passport is valid for a minimum of 180 days at the time of entry into India.
Health Regulations
All travellers should submit a self-declaration form on the online “Air Suvidha” portal before scheduled travel.
Transfer Time
The transfer time from Delhi International Airport to your hotel in Delhi is approximately 40 minutes, depending on the traffic.
Currency
Indian rupee.

Since the Rupee is a non-convertible currency, it cannot be taken out of India, so you won’t be able to obtain it before you travel. You can exchange money upon arrival at the airport, as well as at banks and major hotels. ATMs are also widely available, particularly in well-developed resort areas. While Visa and Mastercard are commonly accepted, it’s a good idea to check with your card provider about any fees for international transactions, as these can vary significantly and add up over the course of your trip.

Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of £80.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
Dress Code
The emphasis is on casual clothing for throughout. Go for light, loose cotton clothing and comfortable shoes or walking boots. Conservative dress is preferred for both men and women. No shorts or vest tops in restaurants. When visiting temples and certain museums dress politely; shorts, singlets, spaghetti straps, skirts, tank-tops and open backed sandals are not acceptable. The dress code would be same for men and women, that is shoulders and legs covered, no hats, and shoes to be taken off.
Included Programme
A sightseeing programme is included in your touring package. Please noteA reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required as we include plenty of sightseeing/travelling, some with early starts. The order of the itinerary and events may be subject to change
