Day Three: Parthenonas - Neos Marmaras

Today’s walk begins in the traditional mountain village of Parthenonas, nestled on the slopes of the Sithonia Peninsula. Renowned for its beautifully preserved Macedonian architecture, the village features cobbled streets, stone-built houses, and a small folklore museum. Perched at an altitude of 350 metres, it offers sweeping views over the Toroneos Gulf. From here, our trail descends gently, leading us across striking rock formations, through lush greenery, and past cascading waterfalls. As we near the coastline by Neos Marmaras, we’ll pass the ruins of an old watermill, which gives this scenic and memorable route its name.

  • Ascent/Descent: 200m/400m
Day Seven: Askamnia Circular

Day Seven: Askamnia Circular

Our walk begins at the Askamnia stream, set deep within the heart of the Sithonia Peninsula. The trail starts with a moderately challenging route alongside the river, followed by a gentle ascent toward a scenic spot known as Anoigmata. From here, we begin our descent through the forest, eventually arriving at Stromeno Aloni—an old threshing floor offering panoramic views over the bay. This flat, circular space was traditionally used to separate grain from crops like wheat and barley. These floors were often built in exposed locations—on hillsides or in ravines—where strong winds could help with the threshing process.

  • Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
  • Walking distance: 7.5km
  • Ascent/Descent: 250m
Day Four: Free day

Day Four: Free day

Today we have a free day to relax at the hotel or explore at our own pace. Nikiti's sandy beach runs for over a mile, at one end there's a modern marina and a handful of great restaurants. On the other, things are quieter and more relaxed. The newly renovated promenade is packed with tavernas and bars, perfect for grabbing a bite to eat or a sunset drink. Alternatively, we can join one of the optional excursions. Visit the ancient city of Dion a significant archaeological site located at the foot of Mount Olympus or discover the Meteora Monasteries one of the most awe-inspiring and unique landmarks in Greece—both a natural wonder and a spiritual sanctuary.

  • Breakfast & dinner included
Day Two: Sani - Siviri

Day Two: Sani - Siviri

Today’s walk takes us to the Kassandra Peninsula, the first of the three ‘fingers’ of Halkidiki’s trident-shaped coastline. We’ll follow a scenic and easygoing coastal trail, winding along well-marked cliff-top paths with sweeping views of the sea. Along the route, there are ample chances to descend to the shoreline and relax on some of the region’s stunning beaches—ideal for a refreshing swim. The gentle path continues through fragrant pine forest before bringing us to our destination: the picturesque village of Siviri.

  • Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
  • Walking distance: 11km
  • Ascent/Descent: 100m
Day Six: Free Day

Day Six: Free Day

We spend a leisurely day in Nikiti, strolling along the vibrant seafront promenade, browsing local shops, and enjoying fresh seafood at a seaside taverna, or wandering up to the old village to explore its cobbled streets and traditional stone houses. If you're into ancient history, tucked away in a quiet corner of Nikiti, the Sofronios Basilica is one of the few remaining archaeological sites in Sithonia. This 1,600-year-old church dates back to the early 5th century AD. Excavation and restoration work took place in the 1980s, and while the site is fenced off and not always open to the public, you can still catch a good glimpse from outside. The real highlight here is the remarkably well-preserved mosaic floor. Its intricate design showcases the artistry of early Christian times during the Roman Empire.

  • Breakfast & dinner included
Day Five: Aristotle’s Trail

Day Five: Aristotle’s Trail

For our final walk, we head to the historic village of Stagira in northern Halkidiki—the birthplace of Aristotle, the greatest philosopher of antiquity and tutor to Alexander the Great. Our route begins at Aristotle Park, a unique themed attraction offering panoramic views over the Gulf of Ierissos and the Athos Peninsula. We follow in Aristotle’s footsteps toward the archaeological site of Ancient Stagira, walking through dense forest dotted with rare herbs and offering occasional glimpses of the Strymonian Gulf. The mostly descending trail leads us toward the coastal area near Olympiada, where our bus will be waiting for the return journey.

  • Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
  • Walking distance: 14km
  • Ascent/Descent: 200m/750m

Important Information
The order of visits and excursions may be modified or reversed, while respecting the content of the program. The hiking trails are given as an indication and can be adapted on site according to the physical abilities of each person.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit and well enough to take part in your chosen activity holiday. If you are unsure as to whether the walks are within your capabilities, please contact the office to discuss this matter, thus making sure you appreciate the terrain that you will be walking.  You will be walking across uneven ground in some areas and extreme care must be taken, especially if wet. If used to using a pole/stick, it is advisable to bring it.

Please appreciate the route and content of the holiday may change at the time and at the discretion of the guide/organiser, should conditions require. Solo’s Holidays cannot be held responsible for personal injury, accident or damage to property whilst on these walks other than incidents arising out of the company’s negligence. The guide has the right to refuse to guide a walk with anyone not properly attired.
Dress Code
It is of paramount importance that you have the correct footwear for this walking holiday. It is essential to wear walking boots that are comfortable and preferably lightweight, with some ankle support and a good grip. If you already have a pair of boots that you are happy walking in (including during hot/wet weather and on hard ground), then bring these along. However, if you are bringing new footwear, do make sure they are well broken in before you arrive. Experience has shown that wearing 2 pairs of woollen socks adds to comfort. Whilst we would hope for good weather during your holiday, it is of course impossible to guarantee this. We would therefore recommend you travel with clothing suitable for all conditions, and suggest you use the following checklist as a guideline of what to take:
  • Walking boots with good ankle support
  • Waterproofs – jacket and trousers
  • Walking poles – recommended as they provide good support for the knees, particularly on downhill sections of walks and when conditions are wet/slippery
  • Lightweight trousers and shorts with pockets
  • Shirts or t-shirts for walking in
  • Walking socks – several pairs
  • Lightweight fleece or jumper
  • Daysack/rucksack for walking
  • Lightweight drinking bottle to carry water whilst walking
  • Small first aid kit – plasters, insect repellant, etc
  • Good, high factor sunscreen, sunhat and sunglasses
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday of €25.00 each to cover drivers, guides, porters and hotel staff. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip.
Passport, Visa & Entry Requirements
To enter Greece mainland or the Greek Islands your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
  • less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.

A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday.

All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Greece Foreign Advice

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.
