Day Two: Cheddar and Wells Guided Tour

Day Two: Cheddar and Wells Guided Tour

After breakfast on Saturday morning, we will board our coach and head to Cheddar Village for a full day guided tour. Cheddar is a parish in Somerset known as the origin of Cheddar Cheese, which has been produced here since the 12th century and to this day is still stored in the Cheddar Caves to mature. Afterwards we will have some free time to explore Cheddar on our own and visit the famous Cheddar Gorge & Caves.
Later we will proceed to the city of Wells, where we visit its magnificent cathedral and the grounds of Bishop Palace. Afterwards, there will be some free time for us to explore.

Day Three: Bath

Day Three: Bath

After breakfast, we head to Bath for a full day to explore this beautiful city at our leisure. We begin with a morning guided walking tour, where we’ll discover how Bath was designed for pleasure and relaxation, remaining a well-being destination since Roman times. The city’s famous waters continue to attract visitors — from the historic Roman Baths to the contemporary Thermae Bath Spa, home to Britain’s only natural thermal hot springs.

 
Here, we can explore a remarkable collection of museums and galleries, and enjoy a wide choice of places to eat and drink in Bath’s welcoming, visitor-friendly centre. England’s most famous novelist, Jane Austen, wrote two of her most celebrated works — Northanger Abbey and Persuasion — while living in the city.

It’s unrivalled position along the promenade is only a few minutes stroll to the town centre and a short taxi ride away form Weston Super-Mare railway station.

Essential Information

Location & Transport

Weston Super-Mare ( North Somerset) is located off Junction 21 of the M5. Take the A370 into Weston Super-Mare

Our hotel is situated opposite Weston’s famous Marine Lake, a few minutes stroll to the town centre where we can enjoy the numerous shops, theatres and attractions. Weston–Super–Mare Railway Station is approximately a 10 minute taxi journey away. 

Parking at the hotel is limited to five spaces and strictly on a 'first come, first served' basis. Blue Badge holders can park on the sea front 'pay and Display' opposite the hotel free of charge 24hrs a day, there are also two long stay car parks approx 2 mins walk from the hotel at BS23 2HA (Madeira Car Park) and BS23 2DU (Hampton Car Park) charges vary but are between £3-£6 for 24hrs. If you wish to stop and unload any luggage before parking you are very welcome to do so.

Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides and hotel staff (including restaurant, kitchen and reception staff) of approximately £10. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of bar staff and housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (the rounding up of the drinks bill and a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, restaurants expect a 10% gratuity (do check that service has not already been added to your bill). For taxis 10% of the metered fare.
Dress Code
The dress code for during the day is casual. In the evenings the dress code is smart casual. Comfortable shoes for walking and sightseeing are recommended.

Other Drinks are available, but these must be purchased as usual.  Whilst the hotel endeavours to ensure that all drinks are available, occasionally the hotel may run out of stock and therefore be unable to replace that item. The free bar is offered from 6pm-10pm each night, the only restriction are as follows;
  • The hotel requests that guests order and drink one drink at a time
  • Empty glasses should be returned to the bar and exchanged for a new drink
  • No double spirit measures
  • No neat spirits
  • Guest will be issued a voucher that must be shown to the bar staff
