Italy is a land that invites you to slow down, to savour, to breathe, to taste. And nowhere captures this spirit more than Umbria. Known as the “green heart” of Italy, this region offers a blend of rolling hills, medieval hill towns, and a pace of life that feels beautifully timeless.
Our Tastes of Umbria journey takes you deep into this enchanting landscape, where every moment is seasoned with authenticity. From long, lazy lunches under the olive trees to evenings filled with music, laughter, and wine.
Day 1: From Rome to Trevi — A Toast to New Beginnings
After touching down in Rome, we travel north to the charming town of Trevi — a place where time seems to stand still. Nestled on a hill surrounded by silvery olive groves, Trevi becomes our home for the week.
As the sun dips behind the terracotta rooftops, we gather for a welcome drink of prosecco — crisp, cool, and perfectly Italian. Laughter fills the air as we meet our fellow travellers, followed by a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant. The adventure has truly begun.
Day 2: Exploring the Heart of Trevi
The cobbled streets of Trevi beckon us this morning. With our local guide leading the way, we wander through this medieval town, rich in stories and centuries-old charm. Each turn reveals another postcard view — stone archways, flower-filled balconies, and glimpses of the Umbrian countryside stretching to the horizon.
After a traditional Italian lunch, the afternoon is ours. Perhaps a stroll to the piazza for a gelato, or time spent exploring the artisan shops and peaceful corners of this unforgettable town.
Day 3: A Day by the Sea
Today, we trade hilltops for sea breeze as we journey to the coastal town of Civitanova Marche. Here, we relax under the Italian sun, stroll along the promenade, and perhaps dip our toes into the shimmering Adriatic. By late afternoon, we return to Trevi, sun-kissed and ready for a quiet evening.
Day 4: Montefalco & The Wines of Umbria
No visit to Umbria is complete without a taste of its famous wines. This morning, we travel to Montefalco, known as the “Balcony of Umbria” for its panoramic views — and its beloved red wine, Sagrantino.
After exploring the town centre, we continue to a local winery, where we enjoy a guided tasting and a light lunch among the vines. It’s an afternoon of flavour, laughter, and good company — before returning to Trevi for a relaxed evening.
Day 5: Music & Magic in Macerata
The morning begins leisurely — perhaps with a swim in the pool or a cappuccino in the sunshine — before we gather for lunch at the hotel. Later, we travel to Macerata, a charming town perched amid rolling green hills.
As twilight falls, we experience one of Italy’s great cultural treasures: the Opera Festival at the Sferisterio Arena. Whether it’s Verdi or Mozart, the performance beneath the stars is truly unforgettable.
Day 6: Free Time & A Sound Bath Under the Stars
Today is yours to do as you please. Explore Trevi’s quiet streets, admire the views that stretch across Umbria, or simply unwind with a book in the garden.
This evening, we gather in a magical outdoor setting for something extraordinary — a Gong and Sound Bath experience. As the stars glimmer above, waves of sound wash over us, easing tension and filling the air with calm. It’s a deeply soothing, soul-refreshing moment — the perfect pause in our Italian journey.
Day 7: Olive Oil & Umbrian Traditions
Our final full day is a celebration of Umbria’s most beloved treasure: olive oil. We set off on a gentle trek through the groves to a local family’s home, where we’re welcomed with warm smiles and plates of fresh bruschetta drizzled with their own extra virgin olive oil.
It’s a simple pleasure, but one that captures the true essence of Italian life — food, family, and connection.
Day 8: Farewell to Umbria
After breakfast, we say a fond goodbye to Trevi and travel back to Rome for our journey home. The memories linger — the flavours, the laughter, the friendships, and the moments of stillness that make travel so meaningful.
Umbria has a way of staying with you — long after you’ve left its hills behind.
