Adelboden

Our location- Adelboden

Our location- Adelboden

With its attractive ski areas and variety of trails, Adelboden is a spectacular winter arena and, not surprisingly, one of Switzerland’s top ski resorts. The main ski area lies between the villages of Adelboden and Lenk, where 114 miles of trails offer a wide range of slopes, especially for intermediate skiers.
Authentically Swiss

Authentically Swiss

At the end of each day, we can either jump back on the cable car or follow various reds and blues that lead us down the valley, through a forest of majestic pine trees. Adelboden itself is a traditional and tranquil Swiss mountain village. Evenings are informal and based around the few restaurants and bars in the resort. If time off the skis calls, this is also a great spot for other winter pursuits such as sledding and ice skating.

The different areas offer a good choice of downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and well prepared trails set in mountain scenery. A first-class network of lifts transports us to gentle blue runs, medium-difficulty wide carving pistes, interesting snowboard parks and the World Cup piste at Chuenisbergli. This extremely challenging black run is now a classic venue for the FIS World Cup series. Over 60 of the main trails are supported with artificial snow-making facilities so there is guaranteed skiing offered throughout the season. Another bonus is that the slopes here, unlike other well-known resorts, are never overcrowded. Of course, there are plenty of Swiss mountain bars and restaurants here where we can take in the view and recount our morning exploits!

Essential Information

Transfer Time
The transfer from Basel airport to the hotel is approximately 2 hours, depending on weather and traffic.

A transfer supplement is available on request.
Skiing Program
You may either take group ski lessons, private ski lessons or form groups to enjoy exploring the slopes together. Whatever you preference your Tour Leader will be available to help organise your skiing.

Ski Hire Poor trail conditions can be hazardous to ski equipment as uncovered rocks and stones can easily scratch and damage skis and snowboards. We strongly recommend you inspect your ski hire equipment at the start of your holiday and agree the state of their condition with the ski hire suppliers, as clients are responsible for the care of their hired equipment and should this equipment be damaged the ski hire suppliers are within their rights to ask for a compensation payment.

Ski Equipment This can be hired in the resort where you will be advised about the most suitable equipment for your standard of skiing. It is very important to have ski boots that are comfortable and fit well, so do not be afraid to keep going back and changing your boots until you get a good fit. For your safety, we advise that you wear a ski helmet wherever possible.

Dress Code
On a skiing trip, dress is generally very informal, the emphasis being on comfort and warmth. We recommend that you pack a pair of skiing trousers and warm ski jacket or a waterproof shell and separate fleece lining or an all-in-one ski suit. Thermal or silk underwear is recommended. Cotton/cotton mix roll necks, T-shirts or sweat shirts; several thin layers are better than one thick layer.

Ski socks, ski gloves or mitts and a hat or headband are suggested. Where temperatures are expected to be well below zero, take a facemask or balaclava. Moon boots or waterproof walking shoes are a “must”. Suntan cream (high protective factor), lip salve, sunglasses and/or goggles are all very useful items to pack. Casual clothes are ideal for the evenings; it is unusual on skiing trips to dress formally in the evenings.
Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover transfer drivers, and hotel staff of CHF25.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated).

As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on. If you choose to have ski lessons, you may also like to thank your ski instructor at the end of the week with a token of appreciation.
Passport & Visas
We recommend that you check passport and visa requirements for the country you are visiting at the State Department if you have a U.S. Passport. Most countries require that your passport have at least six months validity when traveling internationally, and many require that you have one to two blank visa pages for either an entry stamp or visa. As a general rule, please check that your passport has six months validity beyond your planned trip, and if not, please renew your passport with plenty of time to provide Solos with your updated passport information by the final payment due date.

Not sure what travel documents you need? Our trusted partner, sherpa°, makes it easy to check visa and entry requirements based on your destination and passport. One quick check now means smooth sailing later. Click here to learn more.

Health Requirements

We recommend that you check if vaccinations are required for your destination at the CDC’s recommendations for your visited destination(s). We also recommend you purchase travel protection. A travel protection plan can often assist with medical emergencies and reimburse costs that are covered by the plan. Please verify coverage details with Solos before you travel.
