Essential Information

Passport & Visas
To enter mainland Spain or the Canary or Balearic Islands your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
  • less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.

A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit;  Spain Foreign Advice

From the 12th October 2025 the EU is introducing a new European Entry System (EES) that will be phased in and fully operational by the 10th April 2026. Non-EU nationals including British passport holders will now be required to complete biometric checks on arrival and exit to Schengen countries, which will include facial recognition and fingerprints. There is no cost for this, and no action needs to be taken prior to departure.

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €15.00 per week.

Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance before any trip — it safeguards you against unexpected issues like illness, cancellations, or lost luggage. It also protects your health and travel investment, giving you peace of mind to fully enjoy your journey. Click here to learn more.
Optional Excursions
You may wish to take an optional excursion during the course of your stay. Full details will be given at the Information Meeting. All tours should be paid for in euros. The exact amount will be given at your Information Meeting. Your Tour Leader will help arrange these for you but may not necessarily accompany you.

Below gives an idea of what is possible - prices are subject to change. Optional excursions are not guaranteed and are based on minimum numbers. The prices quoted are guideline only and may involve other non-Solos holidaymakers.

Island tour - includes boat cruise, a tram ride through Soller and a train ride through the Mallorcan countryside - Currently €106
You will discover the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most beautiful mountain and sea landscapes on the island. You will take a panoramic bus tour through different towns in the interior of the island until you reach Escorca, in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana. You will continue the route towards La Calobra, now crossing mountain landscapes until you reach the access to this cove. This last stretch undoubtedly offers some of the most spectacular views of the north coast of the island, and its winding route makes the excursion a great adventure. Once you arrive at your destination, you will have approximately an hour and a half of free time to explore the area or, if the temperature is warm enough, enjoy a swim. You will continue the excursion with a boat ride (if navigation conditions are optimal) to the Port of Sóller.

If this option is not available, the route will be made by crossing the heart of the mountains, bordering the Cúber and Gorg Blau reservoirs. Once in the Port of Sóller, you will take the tram to Sóller and from there, the emblematic wooden train to Palma. *(The route can be done in reverse. First the train from Palma to Sóller, then the tram to the Port of Sóller and then the boat or bus route to Sa Calobra. It depends on the schedules of the service providers).

Catamaran - Currently €72
Sail around the beautiful Pollensa Bay, Formentor and Mal Pas. The catamaran stops at a quiet spot below the cliffs where you can cool off in the turquoise water and use the SUP & snorkelling equipment (masks only). Then head to another spot for relaxing on board and more swimming in the sea, followed by a delicious buffet lunch with a drink included. Arrive at Formentor beach for a walk, coffee or sunbathe under the trees on the beach. Back on the boat, head back to Port Pollensa passing by Formentor lighthouse and La Fortaleza, Spain's most expensive holiday home and the 17th-century Spanish villa from the BBC's hit drama series 'The Night Manager.

Drach Caves half day  - Currently €59.50
Located in Porto Cristo, an old fishing village, you will discover one of the largest visitable subway caves on the island: the Caves of Drach. Four caves that extend to a depth of 25 meters, connected with each other and with one of the longest subway lakes in the world. The visit lasts approximately 1 hour and during this time you will be able to contemplate the different formations that the water filtrations are molding. You will enjoy a short recital by a music quartet that will perform four pieces of classical music on board one of the lake's boats. At the end of the tour, if you wish, you can cross the lake by boat, a crossing of no more than 2 minutes, which will allow you to learn about the characteristics of the formations that make the lake navigable. The tour continues with a stop at the marina of Porto Cristo, where you can stroll, have a refreshment or visit the Majórica pearl exhibition store.

Palma - Currently €51
On this excursion to Palma, one of our guides will take you through the history, traditions, and culture of the city on a guided tour starting at Parc de La Mar. This tour will lead you through the streets and alleyways of the oldest part of the city, showing you buildings, squares, and churches. Additionally, you will visit the Cathedral where your guide will provide detailed information about its history and architecture. Once the tour is complete, you will have free time to continue exploring points of interest such as the Mercado del Olivar or La Rambla, or if you prefer, you can go shopping in the various stores along Jaime III street and its surroundings.
Transfer Time
Transfer time from Palma airport to the H10 Blue Mar is approximately 40 minutes depending on traffic.
