Day Three : Airboat Swamp Tour
Today, we embark on a thrilling airboat ride through the wetlands of Louisiana, where alligators and abundant wildlife await on this exciting adventure. Travel at speeds of up to 40 mph across the bayou before slowing down for unforgettable photo opportunities and fascinating insights from your local captain. These agile airboats venture deep into the marshlands where traditional boats cannot go. Once immersed in the wetlands, you’ll find yourself in prime position to spot the incredible wildlife of Sportsman’s Paradise. Spy alligators in the wild, along with raccoons, native birds, and large river rodents known as nutria, as your knowledgeable guide shares captivating commentary.
Cruise across bayous and open waterways surrounding the colourful, historic fishing village of Jean Lafitte, named after the 19th-century smuggler. Experience the rich natural landscapes that make New Orleans’ swamplands so unforgettable.
- Breakfast included

Day Four : Oak Alley Plantation
Today, we explore one of Louisiana’s most recognized and complex historic sites — Oak Alley Plantation. As we arrive, the quarter-mile avenue of 28 centuries-old oak trees provides a striking first impression. But beyond its beauty lies a deeper, more difficult history that shaped this region.
During our guided tour of the 1839 Greek Revival “Big House", a filming location for numerous television shows and movies, we learn not only about the architecture and the plantation owners but also about the enslaved men, women, and children whose forced labor made such estates possible. Exhibits and research by the Friends of Oak Alley Foundation now bring their lives and stories to the forefront, ensuring a more truthful account of this plantation’s past.
Along the way, we pass Whitney, Evergreen, Felicity, and St. Joseph Plantations — sites that collectively reflect both the wealth of the antebellum South and the human cost behind it.
- Breakfast & dinner included
