About this trip...

Prague is one of the most well visited cities in Europe and it is easy to see why as soon as you reach the historic center of the “City of a Hundred Spires” (actually more like 500 if you want to be accurate). Straddling the banks of the majestic Vltava River, it’s a treasure trove of cobbled streets and secluded courtyards that will delight and entice even the most seasoned traveler. Throw in its romantic bridges, historic cathedrals, dazzling gold covered towers and the spectacular astronomical clock at its heart, it is a place eager to reveal its exquisite treasures to those willing to seek them out. Join us on this city break and be inspired by the spires.

Day Two: Prague

This morning, we head out on a guided walking tour. We begin in the vibrant Old Town Square, surrounded by centuries-old architecture and lively cafés. The main points of interest include the Gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn, dominating the skyline with its twin spires, the Baroque St. Nicholas Church, with its elegant white façade & The Jan Hus Monument, dedicated to the Czech reformer.

We’ll marvel at the Astronomical Clock, mounted on the Old Town Hall, where every hour the figures of the Apostles appear in a charming mechanical show — one of Europe’s oldest working timepieces, dating back to 1410.

Our stroll then continues through winding medieval lanes lined with historic houses and hidden courtyards. Along the way, we’ll see the Carolinum, part of Charles University founded in 1348 by King Charles IV — the oldest university in Central Europe — and pass the Estates Theatre, one of Europe’s oldest working theatres, where Mozart premiered Don Giovanni in 1787.

Next, we visit the Jewish Quarter, once the Jewish ghetto, an area that preserves a unique part of Prague’s identity.

Finally, we cross the iconic Charles Bridge, Prague’s most famous landmark. Built in the 14th century and lined with Baroque statues, it offers spectacular views of Prague Castle and the Vltava River.

Essential Information

Transfer time
The transfer time from Prague Airport to your hotel in Prague is approximately 45 minutes, depending on the traffic.
Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of minimum £15.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
Important Information
Please note A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required.
Dress code
The dress code for during the day is casual. In the evenings the dress code is smart casual. Comfortable shoes for walking and sightseeing are recommended.
Passports and visas

We recommend that you check passport and visa requirements for the country you are visiting at the State Department if you have a U.S. Passport. Most countries require that your passport have at least six months validity when traveling internationally, and many require that you have one to two blank visa pages for either an entry stamp or visa. As a general rule, please check that your passport has six months validity beyond your planned trip, and if not, please renew your passport with plenty of time to provide Solos with your updated passport information by the final payment due date.
