From the top station (1490m), the trail ascends through alpine pastures and rocky slopes, with sweeping views across the Julian Alps. The path to Šija (1880m) is moderately challenging, involving some steeper sections and rugged terrain. Reaching the summit of Šija rewards you with dramatic panoramic views of Triglav and surrounding peaks. The loop then brings you back through varied alpine scenery, passing shepherd huts.

There is also a salt room and wellness area with saunas and a massage centre. For those keen to explore, we can take a short train or bus ride to Bled. Hop aboard a traditional pletna boat to reach Bled Island, where you can climb the 99 stone steps to the Church of the Assumption. Don't miss a visit to Bled Castle, perched 130m above the lake, offering spectacular view over the water to the Julian Alps. While in Bled, make sure you try the iconic Bled Cream Cake, a delicious dessert made with custard, whipped cream and puff pastry and best enjoyed at one of the many lakeside cafes.

Day Five: Ribcev Laz - Savica Waterfall
Savica Waterfall is widely considered the most beautiful in Slovenia—a dramatic 78m cascade set within the heart of Triglav National Park. Nestled at the upper end of the Bohinj valley, the waterfall sits at 900m above sea level, surrounded by steep gorges and sheer rock faces. Its waters originate from Črno jezero (Black Lake), one of the Seven Triglav Lakes. As the water flows underground through alpine limestone, it splits into two streams that surge out of a cliffside and plunge into a crystal-clear emerald pool below.
Starting from Ribčev Laz, we follow a scenic trail that hugs the southern shore of Lake Bohinj to Ukanc. From here a well-marked trail bring us to Savica cottage a popular starting point for treks into the Triglav National Park. To reach Savica Waterfall, we ascend 553 stone which are gently graded and not particularly steep, making the walk manageable. There is also a rest area equipped with picnic tables and benches, an ideal spot to pause and enjoy our surroundings. The trail leads to a wooden viewing platform, offering stunning panoramic views of the majestic Savica Waterfall.

After a scenic drive to Gozd Maruljek, our walk begins with a steady ascent via wooden bridges and numerous steps, leading first to the lower waterfall. Continuing upward through forested paths, you'll eventually reach a charming mountain hut nestled beneath the Špik massif—an ideal spot to pause and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings. From there, a further climb takes you to the impressive upper waterfall, set in a stunning natural amphitheater.
