Day Two: Belfast City Guided Walking Tour

Day Two: Belfast City Guided Walking Tour

After breakfast, we meet our walking guide who will be introducing us to the major landmarks, architecture and stories of the people of Belfast. Belfast city centre is very compact and almost entirely flat. The tour covers just under 2.5 miles and lasts around 2.5 hours. The main sites along the way include the street art of the Cathedral Quarter and the historic Entries, and of course the Cathedral itself. Also, historic pubs such as White's Tavern, the beautiful city hall and the Titanic Memorial beside it, stunning public street art including the Spirit of Belfast, the Salmon of Knowledge and the Beacon of Hope. Our guide will then accompany us on the walk across the Lagan on the Lagan Weir footbridge over to the Titanic Quarter where we will proceed with our Titanic Experience.

We are pleased to include entrance to the new Titanic Belfast® exhibition. Opened in March 2012, this iconic building, costing £97m, extends over 9 galleries with multiple dimensions, full-scale reconstructions and inventive, interactive features to explore the Titanic story. Here we can re-live the entire history of the Titanic from her birth in Belfast to the ill-fated maiden voyage, the aftermath of her sinking and her eventual discovery on the seabed.

  • Breakfast included
Day Three: The Giant's Causeway

Day Three: The Giant's Causeway

After breakfast, we board our coach for the journey out to County Antrim on the North Coast of Northern Ireland to discover the history of the Giant's Causeway. Lying at the foot of basalt cliffs along the sea coast, the Giant's Causeway is made up of some 40,000 gigantic black basalt columns thrusting out of the sea. Likely to have been formed by molten lava cooled into hexagonal dark stone steps, this dramatic site has inspired myths and legends of apparent giants striding over the sea to Scotland. Playing a major part in Ireland's heritage, the Causeway has often been described as the Eighth Wonder of the World and has now been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Once back at our hotel, we meet in the restaurant for dinner.

  • Breakfast included
Day Four: Departure Day

Day Four: Departure Day

After a leisurely breakfast, we check-out and say goodbye. Those with later flights have the option to spend a few extra hours at your leisure to enjoy the sights of Belfast before your transfer to the airport.

Essential Information

Dress Code
The dress code for during the day is casual. In the evenings the dress code is smart casual. Comfortable shoes for walking and sightseeing are recommended.
Useful Information
Please note there is an extra cost to go into the Visitor’s Centre at the Giant’s Causeway.   National Trust members do not have to pay this fee if you have your National Trust cards with you. A reasonable level of mobility and fitness is required for the sightseeing during this tour.
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides and hotel staff (including restaurant, kitchen and reception staff) of approximately £20. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of bar staff and housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (the rounding up of the drinks bill and a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, restaurants expect a 10% gratuity (do check that service has not already been added to your bill). For taxis 10% off the metered fare.
Location & Transport
Our hotel is approximately 15 minutes from Belfast City Airport*. The city’s many sights, local bars and restaurants are only a few minutes’ walk away. *Please note, if you aren't on our group flight from Gatwick, we recommend a taxi from either Belfast City or Belfast international Airports
