First Solos Holiday to Crete

I booked my first ever solo trip with Solos & stayed at the Iraklis Apartments in Crete. It’s a charming family run hotel, basic but clean accommodation and fabulous home cooked Greek food. I was with a lovely group of fellow solo travellers and Scott, our tour leader, was very proactive and couldn’t do enough to help you. He was full of fun, enthusiasm and made everyone feel at ease and enjoy what will be a memorable holiday.

Scott, our tour leader was always on hand to assist and organise and can't fault his enthusiasm and positive nature making it a memorable holiday for me. Will be booking more Solos holidays in the future.

Great holiday in Crete

Great holiday in Crete. Weather was amazing and the family who ran the hotel were lovely. Our tour guide, Scott, was amazing and he took us everywhere and kept us informed all the time about what was happening (very funny too!). We all got on great. Thumbs up for Scott.

Essential Information

Transfer Time
The transfer time from Heraklion airport to the Iraklis Apartments is approximately 15-20 minutes.
Time difference
Greece is 2 hours ahead of the UK.
Passports and visas
To enter Greece mainland or the Greek Islands your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
  • less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.

A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Greece Foreign Advice

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.

The prices quoted, are a guideline only, as these can vary, depending on numbers. All tours should be paid for in euros or sterling. Credit cards are not accepted. The exact amount will be given at your Information Meeting. Your Tour Leader will help arrange these for you but may not necessarily accompany you. Prices will be confirmed in resort as they are based on the number of participants, threfore from prices below give an indication but are subject to change. All trips are exclusive to Solos guests and include private transfers.
  • Spinalonga and Agios Nikolaos from €60.00

Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €25.00 per week.

Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on.
Dress Code
Casual, cotton, lightweight daytime wear is the order of the day. Comfortable shoes are a must for sightseeing. Smart casual clothes will be ideal for the evening. Early and late season evenings can be cool so do ensure that you take a cardigan or jacket and even some rainwear – particularly in May and June when you may experience some spring thunderstorms followed by scorching days!
Important Information
Please note that whilst the apartments and pool area are exclusive for our groups, the outside bar and taverna at the front of the property are open to the public. This hotel has no lifts/no lift access.
