It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit and well enough to take part in your chosen activity holiday. Please appreciate the route and content of the holiday may change at the time and at the discretion of the guide/organiser, should conditions require. The guide has the right to refuse to guide a bike ride with anyone not properly attired.
What to Wear
It is of paramount importance that you have the correct attire when cycling for enjoyment, comfort and safety. It is essential to wear padded cycling shorts/trousers that are comfortable. We strongly recommend wearing a suitable cycling helmet on your tour. We recommend bringing your own helmet for comfort and safety however, helmets will be available with the bike hire. We also highly recommend taking and wearing cycling/biking short or long gloves. You will also need to bring a small adapted rucksack suitable for bike riding to keep all your essentials such a food, drink, first-aid kit, clothing etc. Whilst we would hope for good weather during your holiday, it is of course impossible to guarantee this. We would therefore recommend you travel with clothing suitable for all conditions, and suggest you use the following checklist as a guideline of what to take:
  • Cycling shorts/trousers with padded seat – to wear under your cycling clothes – definitely worth investing in a pair or two if you haven’t any already.
  • Shorts to go on top of cycling shorts. For cooler climates or early/late in the season, you may want to consider packing three-quarter length shorts or tights/leggings.
  • Waterproofs – light-weight fold-able jacket and trousers to fit in your small rucksack
  • Comfortable trainers/footwear for cycling
  • Cycling jersey or similar (insulated for warmth for cooler climates or early/late in the season)
  • Base layer/breathable tops
  • Mid layer (Fleece)
  • Helmet - essential (we recommend to take your own for comfort and safety)
  • Gloves (short or long finger)
  • Lightweight drinking bottle
  • Sunglasses – bright sunlight can impair your vision when riding, we recommend to bring a pair that fit comfortable and not fall off as you ride.
  • Basic first-aid kit - It’s useful to have a basic first-aid kit in your small rucksack as you cycle. Cuts or scrapes can occasionally happen so make sure it includes a set of plasters, together with painkillers, bandages and any essential medication you may need.
  • Sunscreen and lip-balm
  • Casual clothes and comfortable shoes for when not cycling

In Italy, wearing a helmet is not legally mandatory. However, it is a mandatory safety requirement of our local supplier. If you choose to ride without a helmet, the supplier cannot accept responsibility for any injuries sustained during the tour.

Helmets are provided as part of the tour, and their use is strongly recommended — not only for your personal safety, but also to support the overall well-being of the group and help ensure a safe, smooth, and enjoyable experience for all participants. Please also note that insurance coverage may be limited if a participant chooses not to wear a helmet.

As a precaution, any participant who decides not to wear a helmet during the tour will be required to sign a liability waiver provided by the tour leader.

Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover transfer drivers, and hotel staff of €25.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions.

For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % add on.
Passport, Visa & Entry Requirements
A full 10-year passport is required valid for at least the duration of your stay. Holders of passports with the inscription “British Citizen” or “European Union” do not require a visa. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday.

All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Italy Foreign Advice If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.

From the 12th October 2025 the EU is introducing a new European Entry System (EES) that will be phased in and fully operational by the 10th April 2026. Non-EU nationals including British passport holders will now be required to complete biometric checks on arrival and exit to Schengen countries, which will include facial recognition and fingerprints. There is no cost for this, and no action needs to be taken prior to departure.
