Staying at the award-winning and leading Cyprus bowls destination, Athena Beach Hotel in Paphos, our week includes five sessions of bowls, a tour of Paphos and plenty of time to relax and enjoy the Cypriot sunshine.

What you'll be doing
Bowls
5 x 2 hour bowls sessions at one of the 18 full-size Green Bowls rinks and 12 indoor short mat rinks located between the Athena Beach Hotel and the Athena Royal Beach Hotel as well as a 4-rink green at the Pioneer Beach Hotel nearby. The Resident Bowls Coordinators will be on hand to coordinate drives, knockouts and fun bowls sessions.
Session times are either:
10am, 1030am, 1pm or 2pm

The four-star Athena Beach Hotel, located by the Kato Paphos Beach, has all the facilities our solo travellers look for. An adults-only pool area with plenty of loungers ensures quiet and relaxation off the bowls greens. The buffet restaurant and adults-only restaurant for breakfast and dinner offer an excellent selection to diners, with lunch and afternoon snack alternatives available at the poolside, Leda Italian or the Helios Beach Bar.

Explore Paphos
Steeped in history and the magical athmosphere of Myth and Legend, Paphos is the ancient capital of Cyprus. The legacy from its remarkable history adds up to nothing less than an open museum, so much so that the UNESCO added the whole town to it's World Cultural Heritage List.
On this half-day tour, we discover this beautiful part of the island with a first stop at the House of Dionysos, with its mosaics beautifully reserved after 16 centuries under the soil. They are considered among the finest in the Eastern Mediterranean and they mainly depict scenes from Greek Mythology.
We pass by Saranta Kolones (Forty Columns) which was originally a castle built by the Lusignans and destroyed by an earthquake, the catacomb of Ayia Solomoni, retaining some of the 12th-century frescoes. We also see the Chrysopolitissa Church built over the ruins of the largest Byzantine basilica on the island and the Pillar of St.Paul where according to legend the Apostle was tied and whipped when he and Barnabas brought Christianity to the island. We pass by the Byzantine Church of Ayia Paraskevi - one of the most interesting Byzantine Churches on the island with five domes forming a cross and has beautiful mural paintings.
The tour finishes with a visit at Yeroskipou Village with the famous Cypriot delights. (Entrance fees payable if you wish to enter)

What to wear
Bowls attire required during bowls sessions.
Casual clothing during the day and layers in the evening. Gentleman are asked to wear long trousers in the restaurants in the evening.
Transfer Time
The transfer time from Paphos Airport to the hotel is approximately 25 minutes, depending on traffic.
Bowls Equipment
Bowls and bowls equipment (shoes/towels etc) are not included in the package. An extra piece of luggage has been included in the price of the holiday.

Recommended bowls attire is smart sporting of any colour. Whites are not required.
Bowls Experience
This holiday is for existing bowls players with experience and their own equipment only.
New to bowls guests cannot be catered for.
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below.
The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides, porters and hotel staff of approximately €25.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burdern of who, when and how much to tip.
Flights
Our Cyprus bowls trip includes return flights from Gatwick, and transfers from Paphos airpot to and from the hotel, within the price listed. Additional hand luggage is also included, so you can take your own bowls with you. If you’d prefer to fly from a different airport, please call our time on 0203 808 8935, and they’ll be happy to help with your travel plans.
Permissions
WhatsApp Group: Shortly before your holiday, you will be invited to join an optional WhatsApp group to connect with your fellow travellers and your Tour Leader. If you choose to join the WhatsApp group, you’re consenting to your phone number being visible to other travellers. Photos or messages may be shared within the group. Solos may use group content for marketing purposes. You can opt out at any time by emailing: [email protected].
If you would prefer not to join the WhatsApp group, you can simply meet the group on your first day instead. Please note, if you have not received an email within 24 hours of departure, we recommend you check your email junk folder. Upon the conclusion of your holiday, please be informed that we will close your specific holiday WhatsApp group. Therefore, we recommend making personal arrangements with those you wish to stay in touch with before the holiday concludes.
Photo Permissions: At the beginning of your trip, your Tour Leader will ask if you would be happy to sign a photo permission form. This means that any photographs taken during your holiday can be used by Solos to share what the Solos experience is all about. It also means you have lots of memories to go home with! Details will be given at your welcome meeting
Passport, Visa & Entry Requirements
To enter Cyprus your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
- less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
- valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.
A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday.

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.
From the 12th October 2025 the EU is introducing a new European Entry System (EES) that will be phased in and fully operational by the 10th April 2026. Non-EU nationals including British passport holders will now be required to complete biometric checks on arrival and exit to Schengen countries, which will include facial recognition and fingerprints. There is no cost for this, and no action needs to be taken prior to departure.
If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.
