Day Three: Biertan & Sibiu
This morning, we continue to Sibiu the cultural heart of Transylvania with a stop at Biertan, renowned for its fortified church. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a facinating glimpse into traditional Transylvanian rural life. Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy a guided walking tour through its beautifully preserved medieval center, rich in history and charm. We begin with a visit to the Brukenthal Museum, the oldest in the country. It houses an impressive collection of European art, including paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts, spanning from the medieval period to the 19th-century.

Day Four: Fagaras, Bran Castle & Brasov Tour
We leave Sibiu after breakfast travelling to Brasov via Făgăraș and Bran Castle. The impressive Făgăraș Citadel, is one of Romania's best-preserved medieval fortresses, where centuries of history come to life through its imposing walls, towers, and fascinating museum collections. Next, we journey to the mysterious Bran Castle, famously known as Dracula’s Castle. Perched dramatically on a rocky hilltop in the picturesque Carpathian Mountains, the castle's rich history dates back to the 14th-century. Our tour takes us into the eerie world of Count Dracula as we explore the halls and corridors, learn about fascinating folklore and discover why this legendary landmark continues to captivate imaginations around the world.

Day Five: At Leisure
Today is at leisure in Brașov. Wander its charming Old Town, relax in lively café-lined squares, explore historic landmarks like the Black Church, or take the cable car up Mount Tampa for panoramic views of the city and surrounding Carpathian Mountains. Alternatively, we have the option to visit the Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Zărnești (additional cost). One of the largest brown bear sanctuaries in Europe, it provides a safe haven for rescued bears previously held in captivity. See bears in a semi-natural environment, while learning about wildlife conservation and the importance of protecting bears and their habitats.

Day Six: Peles Castle & Bucharest
We continue south this morning to Bucharest, stopping en route in Sinaia, where we visit the beautiful Peles Castle. Nestled in the picturesque Carpathian Mountains, Peles Castle boast 160 rooms of Neo Renaissance architecture, intricate woodwork and stunning stain-glassed windows. We continue onto Bucharest stopping at The National Village Museum one of Romania’s most fascinating open-air museums, it showcases traditional Romanian rural life through more than 300 authentic houses, churches, mills, and farm buildings brought from all regions of the country. Each structure has been carefully preserved or reconstructed to reflect the architecture, customs, and everyday life of villages from the 17th to the 20th century.

Day Seven: Walking Tour of Bucharest
We set out on a walking tour of Bucharest this morning, taking in highlights such as the Romanian Athenaeum & The National Art Gallery. We'll also have time to soak up the atmosphere of the Old Town, the historic heart of Bucharest since the Middle Ages. After an afternoon at leisure, we meet for our farewell dinner.

Day Eight: Depart to UK
Say ‘la revedere’ to Bucharest, as we return to the UK today.

Essential Information
- have a ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive. Passports issued after 1 October 2018 are now valid for only 10 years, but for passports issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added if you renewed a passport early
- have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave
From the 12th October 2025 the EU is introducing a new European Entry System (EES) that will be phased in and fully operational by the 10th April 2026. Non-EU nationals including British passport holders will now be required to complete biometric checks on arrival and exit to Schengen countries, which will include facial recognition and fingerprints. There is no cost for this, and no action needs to be taken prior to departure.
