Day One: Arrival into Porto

PORTO PANORAMIC TOUR
See Porto at its most atmospheric on an evening panoramic tour by coach. You'll wind through the city's UNESCO-listed historic centre—its ancient districts glowing after dark—before stopping at the stunning São Bento railway station, where the famous azulejo tile panels line every wall. A beautiful introduction to one of Europe's most characterful cities.

Day Two: Porto – Regua, Portugal
This morning will be spent cruising. After that, you're free to join us on an optional excursion for a guided tour of Lamego.

Classic Guided tour of Lamego | 4 hours
From Régua, head by coach to the charming town of Lamego for a guided tour on foot. The highlight is the iconic Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Sanctuary—a baroque masterpiece whose sweeping white façade dominates a dramatic staircase of 686 steps, adorned with azulejo tiles and climbing high above the city. The views over the surrounding mountains are breathtaking. A genuinely spectacular stop. We then return on board in Regua.

Day Three: Regua - Porto Antigo, Portugal
This morning's optional excursion takes you to the Douro Museum before heading to a stunning quinta estate for wine and olive oil tasting. The afternoon is yours to enjoy from the sun deck as the valley drifts by.

This tour will begin on foot, accompanied by our onboard host or hostess. The first stop is the Douro Museum to learn about the rich history and winemaking heritage in the region. Afterwards, we'll leave by coach for the Quinta do Tedo, a magnificent 18th-century estate that offers dramatic views of rivers on both sides of the terraced hill. We'll visit the estate and enjoy a tasting of its wine and olive oil.*

Day Four: Porto Antigo – Porto, Portugal
We'll spend the morning cruising. This afternoon, why not join us on the optional excursions proposed. This evening is free to do as we please.

CLASSIC: Guided tour of Porto
We'll head into Porto's historic centre by coach, beginning with St. Francis Church—one of the most symbolic buildings in the city, just steps from the Douro riverbank. Next, we'll explore Bolsa Palace, a striking neoclassical mansion at the heart of the old town, taking in the ornate state rooms where official receptions are still held today. We'll finish at an azulejo tile workshop—a chance to get up close with Portugal's most iconic art form, with its centuries of history told through ceramic.of the visits can change. Day 5: Porto - Guimarães – Porto
We enjoy time at leisure this morning to discover Porto at our own pace. This afternoon, you can join us for the optional excursions proposed. Tonight's our gala evening and dinner followed by traditional folk entertainment.

CLASSIC: Tour of Guimarães | 4 hours
From Porto, we'll travel by coach to Guimarães—widely considered the birthplace of Portugal and one of the country's most rewarding medieval towns. Our guided walking tour takes in the Nossa Senhora de Oliveira Church, a landmark at the heart of the old town, before heading to the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança—a commanding medieval estate whose architecture tells the story of Portugal's earliest ruling dynasty. The medieval centre itself is a pleasure to explore, its cobbled lanes and centuries-old plazas remarkably well preserved. At the end of our visit, we'll return on board in Porto.
- PLEASE NOTE: The Palace of the Dukes of Guimarães is currently undergoing renovation work. Guided tours of the interior are still taking place as scheduled, although some rooms are temporarily closed to the public.

CLASSIC: Quaint Afurada | 4 hours
From Porto, we'll head by coach to the mouth of the Douro and the charming fishing village of Afurada. A world away from the city, its colourful backstreets and unhurried pace make it one of the valley's most authentic stops. We'll visit the Afurada Heritage Interpretive Centre, where exhibits bring the village's fishing traditions and way of life vividly to life, before enjoying free time to explore independently—and sample some of the freshest seafood you'll find anywhere in Portugal. We then return to the ship.

Day Six: Porto, Portugal
Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking at 9.00 a.m.

The dining room can accommodate all passengers at the same time, so there's just one seating for lunch and dinner.
- Menu:
Lunch and dinner menus are usually published at the reception area, and alternative dishes can often be arranged.
From the 12th October 2025 the EU is introducing a new European Entry System (EES) that will be phased in and fully operational by the 10th April 2026. Non-EU nationals including British passport holders will now be required to complete biometric checks on arrival and exit to Schengen countries, which will include facial recognition and fingerprints. There is no cost for this, and no action needs to be taken prior to departure.
WhatsApp Group: Shortly before your holiday, you will be invited to join an optional WhatsApp group to connect with your fellow travellers and your Tour Leader. If you choose to join the WhatsApp group, you’re consenting to your phone number being visible to other travellers. Photos or messages may be shared within the group. Solos may use group content for marketing purposes. You can opt out at any time by emailing: [email protected].
If you would prefer not to join the WhatsApp group, you can simply meet the group on your first day instead. Please note, if you have not received an email within 24 hours of departure, we recommend you check your email junk folder. Upon the conclusion of your holiday, please be informed that we will close your specific holiday WhatsApp group. Therefore, we recommend making personal arrangements with those you wish to stay in touch with before the holiday concludes.
Photo Permissions: At the beginning of your trip, your Tour Leader will ask if you would be happy to sign a photo permission form. This means that any photographs taken during your holiday can be used by Solos to share what the Solos experience is all about. It also means you have lots of memories to go home with! Details will be given at your welcome meeting
