Day Three: Ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn, with a city tour of Tallinn
After breakfast, we leave Helsinki and take the ferry across the Gulf of Finland to Tallinn, Estonia’s charming capital. On arrival, we explore the beautifully preserved medieval Old Town, wandering its narrow cobbled streets and admiring its Gothic merchants’ houses. Our guided tour includes highlights such as Toompea Castle, the 13th-century Dome Church, the striking Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral, Town Hall Square, the Old Guild and St Olaf’s Church, offering a fascinating glimpse into Tallinn’s rich history and Hanseatic heritage.

Day Four: Estonian Open Air museum Rocca Al Mare
Today we visit the Estonian Open Air Museum, where traditional rural life is brought to life through a fascinating collection of historic buildings. Explore 14 farmsteads and a recreated village featuring a church, inn, schoolhouse, mills, fire station, shop and seaside fishing sheds, offering an insight into how Estonian families from different walks of life lived between the 18th and 20th centuries.

Day Five: Tallinn to Riga via Sigulda and Gaujas National Park
Today we travel to Riga, stopping en route in Sigulda and Gauja National Park, one of Latvia’s most scenic regions. Known as the ‘Switzerland of Latvia’, Sigulda is famed for its medieval castles, romantic legends and dramatic landscapes. We visit the ruins of the 13th-century Crusader Castle and 19th-century Kropotkin’s Palace, before descending into the river valley for a walk to the sandstone grottoes. We also explore the Turaida Museum Reserve, a historic site featuring archaeological, cultural and architectural treasures, including the medieval Turaida Castle and one of Latvia’s oldest wooden churches. We continue to Riga, arriving at our hotel later this afternoon.

Day Six: City Tour of Riga
This morning we explore Riga on a guided city tour, discovering the charm of its picturesque Old Town and cobbled streets. Highlights include the Dome Cathedral, home to one of the world’s largest pipe organs, St Peter’s Church with its panoramic city views, the historic Guild Houses, Swedish Gate, the architectural ensemble of the Three Brothers, St Jacob’s Church, Parliament House and Riga Castle. Along the way, admire the beautifully restored buildings now home to welcoming cafés, restaurants, bars and shops.

Day Seven: Baltic beach of Jurmala
Today we head to Jurmala, a seaside city and resort in Latvia well known for its natural resources - curative mud, mineral waters and pine forest. The white sand stretches for 24km, and is home to one of the largest heritage sites of historical wooden architecture in Latvia. This evening, we gather for a farewell dinner and share stories of the past week and the Baltic cities we explored.

Day Eight: Departure day
We enjoy a final breakfast as a group and make our way to the airport for our flight back to the UK.

- less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
- valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.
A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. From the 12th October 2025 the EU is introducing a new European Entry System (EES) that will be phased in and fully operational by the 10th April 2026. Non-EU nationals including British passport holders will now be required to complete biometric checks on arrival and exit to Schengen countries, which will include facial recognition and fingerprints. There is no cost for this, and no action needs to be taken prior to departure.
All clients are responsible for acquainting themselves with up to date health information of the countries being visited and where necessary take the required precautions.
