Sami Beach Hotel
The family run Sami Beach Hotel, offers a prime location on the seafront and just 10 m from the sea where you can find all the tranquility and authentic hospitality you are looking for from a holiday to Greece. Featuring a delightful pool area and gorgeous beach just steps from your room door, you can enjoy an early morning swim before breakfast or a long day at the beach. If feeling a little more energetic, there is a tennis court, boules court and table tennis. The choice is yours to do as much or as little as you desire.
Sami & Karavomilos
Just a 5 minute walk from Sami Beach Hotel, is the seaside village of Karavomilos. This village has a small lake on the seafront, a charming port with fishing boats, a local bakery and 2 restaurants that serve fresh fish dishes. Very close to Karavomilos is the famous Lake Cave of Melissani where you can take a boat tour.
Sami is the closest town to Sami Beach Hotel and is among the largest towns in Kefalonia with many restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Famous around the world as the setting of Hollywood movie Captin Corelli's Mandolin, most of the scenes were filmed in Sami, Antisamos beach and the surrounding hills. Sami is a 5 minute drive from the hotel or a 20 minute / 2.5KM walk following a seaside path.

The beautiful Ionian island of Kefalonia is still relatively unknown to visitors. There is no mass tourism here and it's authentically Greek. A stunning place to explore, offering a diverse landscape of towering mountains, secluded coves, Blue Flag beaches, cypress forests, sprawling vineyards and colourful fishing ports. It's no wonder why the island was used as the setting for the acclaimed film Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
Neighbouring Ithaca is also well worth a day trip, an unspoiled hiking paradise with rugged vegetation and only shy mountain goats interrupt the silence. The island is famous as the setting of ‘The Odyssey ‘ by Homer. Every traveller should visit Ithaca once and follow in the footsteps of this epic story!

Use of a tennis court and table tennis table with rackets/bats and balls are available as is participation in daily yoga sessions free of charge.

Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below.
Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides, porters, and hotel staff of approximately €15 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute is, accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip.
Passport, Visa & Entry Requirements Greece
To enter Greece mainland or the Greek Islands your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
- less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
- valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.
Visa Information
A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.
From the 12th October 2025 the EU is introducing a new European Entry System (EES) that will be phased in and fully operational by the 10th April 2026. Non-EU nationals including British passport holders will now be required to complete biometric checks on arrival and exit to Schengen countries, which will include facial recognition and fingerprints. There is no cost for this, and no action needs to be taken prior to departure.

The transfer time from Kefalonia Airport (EFL) to the Sami Beach Hotel is approximately 1hr depending on traffic.

You may wish to take an optional excursion during the course of your stay. Full details will be given at the Information Meeting. The prices quoted, are a guideline only, as they can vary, depending on numbers and may not be exclusively for Solos guests. The exact amount will be given at your Information Meeting. Your Tour Leader will help arrange these for you but may not necessarily accompany you.
