The Resort of Sousse

The Resort of Sousse

Sousse is one of Tunisia's oldest and most beloved coastal destinations, sitting on the country's eastern Mediterranean coast. Golden beaches and a lively promenade sit alongside centuries of history, offering a rare blend of traditional Tunisian culture and modern resort life. At the heart of the city is the UNESCO-listed Medina — a labyrinth of narrow streets, bustling souks, and sun-bleached historic buildings. Among its landmarks, the Ribat of Sousse, a ninth-century fortress, and the Sousse Archaeological Museum, home to a remarkable collection of Roman mosaics, are well worth an afternoon of your time.

Essential Information

Transfer Time
The transfer time from Enfidha Airport to the hotel is approximately 50 minutes depending on traffic.
Currency
Tunisian Dinar

You can take pounds, euros and dollars into Tunisia to exchange into Tunisian Dinar once you are in the country, however taking Tunisian Dinar into or out of the country is illegal.

Most hotels have cash points that accept UK cards where you can withdraw Tunisian Dinar (check with your bank that your card can be used overseas and whether you will incur any charges for using it). Alternatively, some hotels offer currency exchange services, which you can use to exchange your cash.
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of £15.00.

Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
Passport & Visa Information
You can visit Tunisia on a British passport for upto 90 days and no visa is required.

Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay.

Full information on requirements can be found at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/tunisia/entry-requirements .

All clients are responsible for acquainting themselves with up to date health information of the countries being visited and where necessary take the required precautions. We recommend that you check with your doctor prior to departure as this information can change.   You can also visit the travel health website for more information; NaTHNaC - Tunisia
Dress Code
The dress code in tourist cities and coastal areas such as Sousse are accustomed to international visitors who can weare casual summer clothing, beachwear and light layers for evening.

In other areas, tourists can dress casually but modest attire may help blend in a show respect. If joining an optional excursion that visits rural villages, urban areas and religious sites, covering shoulders, cleavage, and knees are advised to repesct local customs.
