Premium Vilamoura Golf

Quinta do Lago South Course

Quinta do Lago South Course

18 holes, 6500m, Par 72 The South Course at Quinta do Lago is a celebrated gem in Portugal’s Algarve region, widely regarded as the resort’s crown jewel. Designed in 1974 by American architect William Mitchell, the course introduced U.S.-style greens, tees, and bunkers to the Algarve, quickly earning a reputation as a premier European Tour venue.

The Course is nestled among umbrella pines, lakes, and vibrant wildflowers, with panoramic views over the Ria Formosa Natural Park. It has hosted the Portuguese Open eight times, including the memorable 1989 victory by Colin Montgomerie, who set a world record with a round of 63 and finished 11 strokes ahead at 24 under par.

Despite its championship pedigree, the course is accessible to golfers of all skill levels. Its layout offers a compelling challenge, with tight fairways, doglegs, and strategically placed hazards demanding precision off the tee. The front nine holes meander through parkland and favour right-to-left shots, while the back nine skirt tranquil lakes and reward left-to-right ball flights. Standout holes such as the 8th, 15th, and 18th are especially testing for low handicappers, offering a dynamic and memorable golfing experience.
Millennium Vilamoura

Millennium Vilamoura

18 holes, 6176m, Par 72 Opened in 2000, this classic parkland course carves its way through a pine forest with a number of challenging water hazards which add to the test.   This beautiful and highly rated course that strikes the perfect balance of testing the better golfers whilst remaining manageable for the average visitor. Transfer time from hotel - 7 mins approx
Pinhal Vilamoura

Pinhal Vilamoura

18 holes, 6353 metres, Par 72 Pinhal Golf Course was opened for play in 1976 and owes its personality to the original designer Frank Pennink who also turned his hand to Dom Pedro Old Course Golf Club nearby, and Robert Trent Jones Sr., who made a number of significant refinements in 1985. Traversing undulating parkland, many fairways  on this course are lined by pine trees. However, perhaps an even more significant challenge is presented by the Umbrella and Atlantic pines which present themselves on fairways and at times on the approach into greens. Length has recently been added on a number of holes, which ensure the test originally envisioned by Pennink is maintained.

Golfers will be pleased to learn that the ponds and stream which come into play on five holes should not, for the most part, present a serious threat. One of the most remarked upon features of Dom Pedro Pinhal Golf Course, in Vilamoura, is the stunning panorama provided from the clubhouse, which extends over the excellent driving range and practice facilities and beyond. Completely renovated at the turn of the millennium, its veranda offers the perfect setting for post-round relaxation. Transfer time from hotel - 7 mins approx
Old Course Vilamoura

Old Course Vilamoura

18 holes, 6254 metres, Par 72 This beautiful course is one of the Vilamoura “must plays”.  The course is laid out through a pine forest, and has a great variety of holes.  It is not necessarily for the longer hitters but if you keep your ball in play, you will score well here. Transfer time from hotel - 7 mins approx

Fabulous Solos golf holiday

I have just returned from a fabulous Solos golf holiday in Vilamoura, Portugal. Great hotel, great golf courses, great company and a great rep who made sure that everything worked smoothly and efficiently. I had such a lovely time and can't wait to book my next trip.

Mark

pleasant & relaxed holiday

Just returned from a very pleasant & relaxed holiday week golfing in Vilamoura. Everyone mixed well in the group, there were zero fusses, while Scott spread his time across the group well. He has a friendly personality, well suited to the job. He treated every person well. The couple of problems that did arise, he resolved without any fuss. He switched our rest day with the rain day - when a golf trolley battery died on the course, he swapped quickly. The result was a very relaxing & enjoyable week- thanks

Danny

Good fun

Just returned from vilamoura playing golf. We had a fantastic time. Our tour leader made us all feel very relaxed straight away. We played 5 games of golf very well organised and good fun. He even managed to change one of the days we were going to play due to heavy rain. Nothing was to much trouble. Can't wait for my next solos holiday.

Alternatively you can add this to the special requirements box on our booking page. If you have a certificate please ensure you take it with you on the trip, this enables the Tour Leader to assess everyone’s ability, so that rounds and competitions can be organised fairly. If you are uncertain about these requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to advise you. https://www.randa.org/WorldHandicapSystem
Golf Club Insurance
Clients will most probably find that their golf clubs are covered on their household insurance policy. Most policies cover a single item such as golf clubs for a period out of the country. However, clients should make very sure that they do have adequate cover for their equipment

Carriage of Clubs
We advise you to use a light golf bag when packing your clubs. We suggest you wrap a towel round the neck of the clubs to protect them and stop them rattling around whilst in transit. It is also important to then place the bag and clubs in an outer carrying bag, which can be purchased from any good golf shop.
What to Wear
Golf attire during the day. We suggest smart casual for the evenings. Golf shoes with soft spikes are required.
Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover transfer drivers, and hotel staff of €25.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
Passports and Visas

From the 12th October 2025 the EU is introducing a new European Entry System (EES) that will be phased in and fully operational by the 10th April 2026. Non-EU nationals including British passport holders will now be required to complete biometric checks on arrival and exit to Schengen countries, which will include facial recognition and fingerprints. There is no cost for this, and no action needs to be taken prior to departure.

To enter Portugal or Madeira your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
  • less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.

A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday.

All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Portugal Foreign Advice

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.
Health Requirments
Compulsory vaccinations: None.

All clients are responsible for acquainting themselves with up to date health information of the countries being visited and where necessary take the required precautions. We recommend that you check with your doctor prior to departure as this information can change. You can also visit the travel health website for more information; Travel Health Portugal
