Walking & Hiking

The islands are beautifully green at this time of year, and it’s the ideal time to tackle the coastal paths and trails before the summer heat sets in. We have 4 walking trips departing in May:

  • Our Corfu walking trip, where you’ll also explore the historical Venetian city, as well as two free days to enjoy the sun or check out the local excursion.
  • Our Crete hiking holiday, for more experienced ramblers. You’ll enjoy the rugged beauty of Crete’s valleys and gorges, as well as beautiful olive groves and wide sea views.
  • Exploring Kefalonia & Ithaca. While famous for it’s stunning beaches, Kefalonia is also home to beautiful walking trails. We’ll take in the historical ruins of Drakopoulata, before jumping on the ferry to Ithaca, where we’ll spend a couple of days walking through the island’s thick forest.
  • Our Gerald Durrell-inspire Corfu walking tour. You’ll fall in love with Greece in the same way Durrell did, after a week of exploring Corfu’s trails and beautiful views. As well as stunning surroundings during our hikes, this trip also includes an amazing cruise through Corfu’s caves.

Historical Sightseeing Trips

If you fancy a bit of culture, May is the time to do it. Exploring the historical sites is much more enjoyable when you’re not having to hide from the scorching sun, or endure the peak summer crowds. We have two trips that will take you into the think of Greece’s storied history:

  • A Taste of Northern Greece: we start in the exciting city of Thessaloniki, before visiting Mount Olympus, and exploring the history of Meteora. It’s not all history, we’ll also enjoy wine-tasting, a cruise around the island, with beautiful Greek food and hospitality throughout.
  • Women Only: Ancient Greece Tour & Island Hopping: for the ladies we have the trip of a lifetime. Arriving in Athens, you’ll visit the Acropolis, a once in a lifetime experience for any keen traveller. After a couple of days in Athens, we’ll escape the hustle and bustle of the city, boarding the ferry to Mykonos for the start of a week of island hopping adventures.

Our favourite reasons to visit Greece in May

The weather

By May, you can expect daytime temperatures to sit comfortably around 23°C or 24°C. It’s warm enough to enjoy Greek island life in a a short-sleeved shirt, but you won't feel drained just by walking to the local shop. The sea is still a touch refreshing but for most of us, it’s perfect for a quick dip.

Less Crowded

One of the best things about May is that you won’t be lost amongst the crowds. Whether it’s the narrow Venetian streets of Corfu Town or the waterfront in Zakynthos, the peak summer crowds haven’t yet arrived in Greece. You won’t have a problem grabbing a sunbed at the beach or a table at the taverna.

Adults Only

All of our trips are adults only, and with our range of Solos Exclusive holidays, we have our own hotel, guaranteeing a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, without any children on the premises. Travelling in May also means that the beaches and towns will generally be quieter, as the school summer holidays haven’t started yet.

Ready to enjoy the sun, sea, and souvlaki for yourself?

All of our Greece singles holidays are available to book now. Lazy beach days, island hopping, or historical exploration: whatever you’re into, Greece makes for the perfect start to your summer adventures.
