Meet Phil Roberts, he’s one of our excellent tour leaders and loves hosting our walking holidays! So much so that he’s shared his top walking destinations with us!

Phil Roberts – Walking Tour Leader since 2008

Hello everyone, I’m Phil & much has happened in the last year, but one thing has stayed the same – the enjoyment that this job brings! Of course, it’s not without its challenges, but the places seen, the things done & the frequent laughs (so many of those!) are such fond memories. I’ve led many Solos walking tours – in some ways, they are my favourite! It’s just lovely to be out & about, seeing sights not seen from the road, getting some exercise and having the opportunity to chat and laugh with all members of the group. In my opinion, walking holidays are really sociable and the shared experience is a real plus! It has to be said though, that a cold post-walk beer is one of life’s delights and I think I’ve missed that the most – ha! A walk shared is usually a walk enhanced and I’m so looking forward to heading to the Peak District this weekend…it’s been a long time coming! I think it’s unfair to pick only one favourite walking holiday, so here are six places that I just love!

Top Walking Holidays For 2021:

1. Tuscany

Get ready to discover some of the finest walking, food and wine Italy has to offer! You can take in the spectacular Tuscan full of fascinating renaissance towns, monasteries, vineyards and olive trees.

2. Lake Garda

Discover the stunning shores in Northern Italy. You can seek out the most beautiful vistas whilst leaving plenty of free time to relax or explore at your own pace!

3. Crete

This beautiful island is the largest and most varied of all the Greek Islands. Walk with friends through the beautiful north-western region of Crete, and marvel at the stunning coastline. Plus you can look forward to many social taverna evenings!

4. Slovenia

Walking through the hidden paths of the Slovenian Alps is an unforgettable experience. You can soak up great views of the Triglav National Park and Jasna Valley. It’s a beautiful gem for an autumn walking holiday.

5. Peak District

Phil will be heading there this weekend to experience the rolling hills and peat-covered moorlands. You can ramble up the mountains and enjoy the Great British outdoors.

6. The Thames Path

Take in both historic Thames side towns and picturesque meadows with a beautiful rolling countryside! You really get to experience everything on this walking trip!
