What you'll be doing

Day One: Welcome to Thessaloniki
Upon arrival at Thessaloniki Airport, we'll be welcomed with a warm smile and assisted to our hotel. No need to worry about navigating unfamiliar roads or local transport, just relax and settle in. This evening, we join our fellow travellers for a welcome drink and tour briefing followed by our first taste of local Greek cuisine. Afterwards, we may wish to take a gentle stroll along Thessaloniki’s lively waterfront promenade.

Day Two: Guided Tour & Free Time in Thessaloniki
Today, enjoy a relaxed but fascinating introduction to Greece’s second-largest city, with our expert local guide leading the way. We’ll visit iconic landmarks like the White Tower, the Rotunda, Galerius Arch, and the serene Church of St. Demetrius. Later, soak in the sweeping views from the city’s Upper Town (Ano Poli).
Between cultural highlights, enjoy Thessaloniki’s rich culinary traditions, sample koulouri (sesame bread rings), warm bougatsa (traditional dessert), local olives and cheeses, and the famed trigona panoramatos pastry, there’s also time for a traditional Greek coffee break.
The afternoon is free for exploring the beautiful city of Thessaloniki.

Day Three: Visit the UNESCO site of Meteora
After breakfast, we journey south to the awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site of Meteora, where towering sandstone pillars are crowned by centuries-old monasteries. Visit two of these remarkable monasteries, taking in the breathtaking scenery and learning about their fascinating history.
Afterwards, continue to the nearby town of Kalambaka, nestled beneath the dramatic rock formations, where you'll spend the night.

Day Four: Dion, Olympus & Palaios Panteleimonas
This morning, travel to the charming mountain village of Palaios Panteleimonas, where you'll have time to wander its cobbled streets and soak up the traditional atmosphere. Continue to the ancient archaeological site of Dion, once a sacred city dedicated to Zeus and an important centre of Macedonian worship.
Later, head to the legendary Mount Olympus, home of the ancient Greek gods, where you'll have free time to enjoy lunch and admire the spectacular surroundings before continuing to your overnight stay in the Pieria region.

Day Five: Ancient Royalty & Wine Country, Vergina, Naousa and Halkidiki
Step back in time at Vergina, the ancient capital of the Macedonian kings. Visit the museum built around the Royal Tombs, including that of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great, an awe-inspiring experience. Then we shift from history to hedonism with a visit to Naousa, one of Greece’s premier wine regions. Enjoy a relaxed wine tasting at a family-run estate, sipping wine in the Macedonian hills connects us to the land’s flavours and traditions in a meaningful way.
Afterwards, we continue to the coastal haven of Halkidiki. We check-in to our hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening and dinner with our fellow guests.

Day Six: Cruise Around Mount Athos
Today, enjoy a full-day excursion to Mount Athos, including an approximately four-hour sightseeing cruise from Ouranoupoli and free time to explore the village before returning to your hotel.

Day Seven: Cooking, Culture & Celebration
Our final full day is a true celebration of Greek hospitality. Enjoy a traditional Greek cooking lesson featuring the preparation of three local dishes, followed by the opportunity to sample the dishes with ouzo, juice and water. This evening, our group comes together for an unforgettable Greek night filled with music, dancing, and laughter, a joyful end to our journey.

Day Eight: Flight home
After breakfast, we transfer to Thessaloniki Airport for our departure. Whether we came for the culture, cuisine, or company, we are sure to leave with a deeper connection to Northern Greece, and perhaps a few lifelong friendships too.

WhatsApp Group: Shortly before your holiday, you will be invited to join an optional WhatsApp group to connect with your fellow travellers and your Tour Leader. If you choose to join the WhatsApp group, you’re consenting to your phone number being visible to other travellers. Photos or messages may be shared within the group. Solos may use group content for marketing purposes. You can opt out at any time by emailing: [email protected].
If you would prefer not to join the WhatsApp group, you can simply meet the group on your first day instead. Please note, if you have not received an email within 24 hours of departure, we recommend you check your email junk folder. Upon the conclusion of your holiday, please be informed that we will close your specific holiday WhatsApp group. Therefore, we recommend making personal arrangements with those you wish to stay in touch with before the holiday concludes.
Photo Permissions: At the beginning of your trip, your Tour Leader will ask if you would be happy to sign a photo permission form. This means that any photographs taken during your holiday can be used by Solos to share what the Solos experience is all about. It also means you have lots of memories to go home with! Details will be given at your welcome meeting
We recommend that you check passport and visa requirements for the country you are visiting at the State Department if you have a U.S. Passport. Most countries require that your passport have at least six months validity when traveling internationally, and many require that you have one to two blank visa pages for either an entry stamp or visa. As a general rule, please check that your passport has six months validity beyond your planned trip, and if not, please renew your passport with plenty of time to provide Solos with your updated passport information by the final payment due date.
