And with this three day city break in Verona, you could be one of them. While in Verona, enjoy exploring the history and culture of the medieval old town, admire renaissance art in the Castelvecchio and catch a glimpse of Juliet’s romantic balcony at Casa di Giulietta. We'll also enjoy an excursion to a traditional Italian vineyard, where you can relax and taste wines in the comfort of a modern, airy tasting room in the wine boutique. Day One: Arrive in Verona

Welcome to Italy! Upon arrival at Verona Airport, we transfer to our centrally located hotel in Verona. When evening comes, we can gather together and enjoy a welcome drink.
Day Two: Verona City Tour and the Night at the Opera Festival

Day Two: Verona City Tour and the Night at the Opera Festival

After breakfast, we explore the historic city of Verona - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our local guide will lead us on a walking tour of the heart of the city where we will see traces of its long history from Roman and Medieval eras, through to the Gothic and Scaligera periods. The guided tour of the old town showcases the majestic Castelvecchio castle and the Arco dei Gavi (Gavi’s arch). We stroll along Corso Cavour, see Juliet’s House, Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza dei Signori and Piazza Brà with the Arena (external visits only).
 
This evening we start with a dinner  at the Ristorante San Matteo Church. We then enjoy live opera in the largest open-air amphitheatre in the world - the Arena di Verona. The performance is Verdi’s La Traviata, the poignant tale of love and sacrifice between Violetta, a Parisian courtesan, and Alfredo. Featuring some of opera’s most beloved arias, including “Sempre libera” and “Libiamo ne’ lieti calici.” The seat tickets are in 1st sector Verdi* (*Subject to availability at the time of booking).

Day Three: Verona Wine Tour

Day Three: Verona Wine Tour

This morning, we hop on a coach from our hotel to Salvaterra in Pedemonte.

We will start with a walk through the vineyard of Salvaterra (or similar), to then reach the main building of the ancient property; the tour will then bring you down to our cellars to discover the winemaking process among wooden barrels. After the tour, you'll sit down to a guided tasting of three of their most iconic wines: Valpolicella DOC Classico, Valpoicella Ripasso and Amarone, served with a gourmet selection of locally produced artisanal cured meats and cheeses.

The rest of the day can be spent however you wish.

It's time to say arrivederci Italy! After breakfast, we’ll have some free time before transferring to the Verona Airport by private vehicle for our return flight home.

All extremely well planned and well organized, but also with the opportunity for some free time which is a good balance. Seats at the opera were excellent. A lovely group of people and Jo was a brilliant tour leader .

A phenomenal experience

I loved seeing Carmen in Arena di Verona- a phenomenal experience. The vineyard trip was also more enjoyable & informative than expected. The pace of the trip was good- planned activities but also time for yourself. Size of the group was just right as it was possible to speak with most people.

The main event and venue - Carmen at the amphitheatre, Made this really special.
The holiday went at a good pace, never bored, but still time to relax. I would have liked to have stayed longer at the pre-opera meal. The vineyard was great, and the wine was cheap. Friendly drivers. Jo was brilliant, worked so hard and was so patient with us. She did extra things and took on all the stress of the trip. She was good fun to spend time with as well

Essential Information

Dress code
Summer in Verona can be hot and humid, so it’s important to dress accordingly. Lightweight, breathable clothing in natural fabrics such as cotton is ideal for staying cool in the summer heat. Casual evening wear is recommended and comfortable shoes for sightseeing.
Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of minimum £15.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
Important Information
Please note that the Arena di Verona is an open-air venue and performances can be cancelled due to bad weather. If it rains before a show and the performance is cancelled a refund can be obtained from Solos Holidays. If it rains after the performance has started and the performance is cancelled no refund will be given. A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required.

Passports and visas

We recommend that you check passport and visa requirements for the country you are visiting at the State Department if you have a U.S. Passport.
