About this trip...

Our guided group walking trip in the Brenta Dolomites offers the chance to discover one of Italy's most dramatic mountain landscapes. Based in the elegant alpine area of Madonna di Campiglio, we explore a striking variety of scenery, from flower-filled alpine meadows and crystal-clear mountain lakes to limestone peaks, ancient forests, and cascading waterfalls. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, each walk showcases the region's unique heritage and far-reaching mountain panoramas.

Hiking in the Brenta Dolomites reveals an ever-changing landscape of high mountain pastures, tranquil woodland trails, glacier viewpoints, and picturesque valleys carved by rushing streams and waterfalls. Along the way, we visit some of the area's most celebrated natural attractions, including the Vallesinella and Nardis Waterfalls, the peaceful shores of Lago Malghette, and the panoramic viewpoints of the Spinale Plateau, with sweeping views across the Brenta Dolomites and the Adamello–Presena Glacier. With time to enjoy traditional mountain refuges, alpine wildlife, and the welcoming atmosphere of Madonna di Campiglio, this guided group tour for solo travelers brings together nature, relaxation, and authentic Italian alpine culture.

After landing in Verona, we transfer to our hotel with our fellow solo travelers. Located in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites between the rugged limestone peaks of the Brenta range and the glaciers of the Adamello-Presanella massif. Madonna di Campiglio is one of Italy's most attractive mountain resorts. Renowned for centuries for its dramatic scenery, Val di Genova is one of the most spectacular valleys in the Italian Alps. The abundance of rushing water, cascading streams, and impressive waterfalls can be discovered along the famous Waterfall Trail, where each turn reveals another breathtaking natural feature. Our route follows the valley floor as towering granite cliffs rise above the landscape, while vast glaciers dominate the high mountain slopes beyond. A shuttle transfer from Madonna di Campiglio takes us to Ponte Verde, where our walk begins.
We follow the trail to the magnificent Cascate di Nardis, the most iconic waterfalls in Val Genova, before continuing through the valley to Ponte Maria. From here, we take the shuttle back to Madonna di Campiglio, bringing an unforgettable day of alpine scenery to a close.

From the hotel, we take the Pradalago cable car to the start of today's walk. The route begins on gentle terrain, passing the picturesque Lago Pradalago and Rifugio Viviani, beneath the imposing summit of Cima Zeledria. We then descend across wide alpine meadows before following trails through fragrant mountain pine and larch forests, heading north towards Rifugio Lago Malghette and its beautiful namesake lake, one of the largest in the Presanella Group.

Set in a peaceful and idyllic location, Rifugio Lago Malghette is surrounded by forests and mountain pastures, with magnificent views across the Brenta Dolomites. It provides the perfect spot to pause and enjoy the tranquil alpine scenery. From the refuge, we begin our descent on a combination of forest tracks and path 201, which winds gently down through woodland and across ski slopes in a series of broad switchbacks. If used to using a pole/stick, it is advisable to bring it. Please appreciate the route and content of the holiday may change at the time and at the discretion of the guide/organiser, should conditions require. Passport, Visa & Entry Requirements

We recommend that you check passport and visa requirements for the country you are visiting at the State Department if you have a U.S. Passport. Most countries require that your passport have at least six months validity when traveling internationally, and many require that you have one to two blank visa pages for either an entry stamp or visa. As a general rule, please check that your passport has six months validity beyond your planned trip, and if not, please renew your passport with plenty of time to provide Solos with your updated passport information by the final payment due date.

Not sure what travel documents you need? Our trusted partner, sherpa°, makes it easy to check visa and entry requirements based on your destination and passport. One quick check now means smooth sailing later. Click here to learn more.

Health Requirements

We recommend that you check if vaccinations are required for your destination at the CDC’s recommendations for your visited destination(s). We also recommend you purchase travel protection. A travel protection plan can often assist with medical emergencies and reimburse costs that are covered by the plan. Please verify coverage details with Solos before you travel.

What to Wear
It is of paramount importance that you have the correct footwear for this walking holiday. It is essential to wear walking boots that are comfortable and preferably lightweight, with some ankle support and a good grip. If you already have a pair of boots that you are happy walking in (including during hot/wet weather and on hard ground), then bring these along. However, if you are bringing new footwear, do make sure they are well broken in before you arrive. Experience has shown that wearing 2 pairs of woollen socks adds to comfort. Whilst we would hope for good weather during your holiday, it is of course impossible to guarantee this. We would therefore recommend you travel with clothing suitable for all conditions, and suggest you use the following checklist as a guideline of what to take:
  • Walking boots with good ankle support
  • Waterproofs – jacket and trousers
  • Walking poles – recommended as they provide good support for the knees, particularly on downhill sections of walks and when conditions are wet/slippery
  • Lightweight trousers and shorts with pockets
  • Shirts or t-shirts for walking in
  • Walking socks – several pairs
  • Lightweight fleece or jumper
  • Daysack/rucksack for walking
  • Lightweight drinking bottle to carry water whilst walking
  • Small first aid kit – plasters, insect repellant, etc
  • Good, high factor sunscreen, sunhat and sunglasses
Dress Code

Evenings on this trip are relaxed and informal. Comfortable holiday wear is perfect—think lightweight layers, casual clothing and shoes suitable for strolling around local villages or enjoying dinner. No formal wear is required.

Gratuities

There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below.

Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides, porters, and hotel staff of approximately €30 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance before any trip — it safeguards you against unexpected issues like illness, cancellations, or lost luggage. It also protects your health and travel investment, giving you peace of mind to fully enjoy your journey. Click here to learn more.
